Petrus is a method that I am interested in using at a professional level and wanted your opinion as to whether or not it is worth practicing. Personally I am drawn to less common methods as I can't seem to retain interest in any of the big 3 meaning the consistency of my practice and progression isn't great. I think petrus could be quite good for me as I want more freedom when it comes to my block building and personally I prefer the option to use COLL and EPLL or maybe ZBLL (not that I know ZBLL... yet). Also, does anyone know if it is any good for other events such as bigger cubes, I know it isn't bad for OH. So, do you think it is worth me practicing?

as a fun method it's ok but trying to use it professionally might not be the best idea

I started out solving in 2005, I used Petrus to get past the basic "beginner method" that came with the original Rubik's cube. I really enjoyed that method and I still play around with it today. The method is very informational, albeit Lars's site is kind of hard to follow at times. For my fastest and most consistent times nowadays I use CFOP. But really, my cross and first pair are sometimes built on the knowledge I learned during my time using Petrus as my main method. When I review example solves for some of the best cubers, I say, "man that sure looks like a block build rather than just cross to F2L, especially some X crosses". You should do what's the most fun for you. Tau Yu can get sub-10 with a Petrus solving style when he wants to. Sky is the limit with a lot of hard work: however, I don't see anyone breaking 3.47s with Petrus in all honesty. If you are shooting to podium, I wouldn't recommend Petrus, but if you want to learn a lot about the cube, Petrus is a good training method or stepping stone to a better method in my opinion.
