[Help Thread] Should I switch to Roux?

This is a question about CFOP users starting Roux.

I used cfop a long time, I do like it and have no desire to switch, yet Roux interests me. I'm not concerned with which method is "better", I simply would like to learn more about it, to do it correctly.

The difficulty I run into is not the block building, I enjoy that part, but when I reach CMLL, my mind wants to revert to cfop's oll/pll.

I'm only trying to learn 2 look cmll at the moment, but as soon as I see a case, something tells me just fix the two D edges and go on with oll/pll, instead of staying the course... I suppose it's just seeming like it's the easiest way at the moment.

I know this is freefop, lazy roux, or whatever it's considered to be, and I am trying to move past it.

I probably should abandon cfop until I learn, and approach it as a beginner, but the thing that makes me want to cube won't allow that. As soon as I start feeling frustrated, I'll want to just do some solves.

Has anyone else who's added Roux(not switched) gone through this or something similar?

Any advice?

Thank you!
Sorta late but I think you should just do slow solves and just abandon CFOP while learning roux.

I was stuck in the same situation except my block building is and was much worse when I tried to learn roux. The same thing happened even when I learnt Mehta and tried to main it(ofc I main it now). I used to make 3/4ths of a cross and insert 3 corners instead of making a first block. Using a block trainer helped me destroy CFOP habits.

You can train L10P in cstimer by going to 3x3(not WCA) and then selecting Roux L10P

I think you're not familiar at F2L yet
You need a lot of practice and example solves to get better
But Roux worth learning because it is fun and you can get sub-25 easier than CFOP

Currently I average about 30-35 seconds with 2 look OLL and PLL and intuitive F2L I'm considering switching to roux. Do you think I should?

I think yes and no, yes because it has a low move count, no because CFOP has more of an algorithm type style so that is better than thinking personally i use CFOP and i think it is better

cfop= cross and f2l are intuitive for the most part, and oll and pll are alg based
roux= fb and sb are intuitive cmll is an alg, lse becomes more 1.5 lookish instead of thinking when you use eolr
so saying roux is limited by thinking isn't true because you can inspect Fb+dr and then the only step where you have to think is the rest of sb, because l10p doesn't require thinking at all

Please excuse my ignorance, but aren't the cmll algs, or mostly the same as oll/pll, just less of them as far as corners go?

I've tried 2 look and the sune and some others I see are the same, but some others are different, of course it could be just a different version of the algs I'm using and I don't recognize them.

Thanks!

Cmll isn't the same because most cmlls affect edge orientation on the U and D layers but some algs are the same as cfop coll
