ah, another teacher. that's pretty cool! just be sure that you are solving because you enjoy solving, not because you enjoy the idea of becoming super fast. it can be hard to differentiate the two sometimes and getting caught up in the latter can lead to a situation that is stepping foot into what i would define as addiction. but seeing as youre a mature adult (or some sort of sit-com-ish child prodigy teacher) with responsibilities i assume that you would be able to handle a hobby :)

No. That's really not a good idea for someone who averages 50 seconds. That's two and a half hours at best, which most people don't have time to do. Even 50 solves a day is a lot.

Yeah, when we recommend this to other people we should say something like "solve for an hour", instead of do 100 solves. For you, the fast guys, counting speedsolve and scramble it can take no more than 30sec per solve, which allows you to do 100-120 solves an hour but, for me, it takes closer to a minute per solve so, to do 100 solves I need around 1h 45min. I have never checked, to be honest and many days I manage to do 100 solves so, the only answer I have for that is that time flies while I'm solving :)

EDIT: I just timed a full Ao12 and it took 8:30. Which means around 42sec per solve, including scramble, inspection and solve, with an average solve time of 20.18 (yes, I cannot believe I almost get sub-20 without any warm-up). This tells me 2 things:

- At 7 minutes per 10 solves, it should take me just 70 minutes to do a full Ao100, not 105 minutes as I was assuming above. Of course I would not be solving at this pace for the whole Ao100 so it would be more like 80-90 minutes. For somebody averaging 50 sec you have to add a full 30 sec to each solve, which means another 50 minutes so yeah, clearly more than 2h.

- Second and more important. If it takes me 42 sec per solve, that's 20 sec to solve and around... 10-15 sec to scramble? Do I use as little inspection time as 5-10 seconds? I have to review this more carefully :)

EDIT2: In fact this tells me THREE things, the 3rd being that I like the scientific method: experiment, gather data, draw conclusions and see if the data and conclusions back up your assumptions.

i used to do 300 solves a day during the summer when i averaged that.... maybe that's why i improved so quickly...
EDIT: i would wake up at 7, eat breakfast then cube and be like wait what its 3 already! then i would eat lunch and cube again until like 7:30 lol i had no life.

Thats why your so fast! D: I just recently sold my soul to get sub13!?

Just remember that you shouldn't extrapolate! You'll start to get tired later in the average, and you'll probably slow down, or start doing something else. It'll almost certainly take you longer than your predictions to do a full Ao100.

Yes, but like I said: not many people have that much time.
LOL @Penguinsdontfly (Are you Adam?)
Nope, theROUXbiksCube is Adam (unless they both have the same name, but I don't think so).

Yes, you're completely right, when you extrapolate science steps aside and statistics come in. And statistics is how mathematics lie, right? But, as you can see I took that into account to predict that instead of 70min it would be more like 80-90min. O course I not always do a full Ao100 in just one sitting but if you add the times up it would throw a total similar to that. If I ever do an Ao100 in one sitting I will try to check the time I start and finish and let you know :)

no my name starts with a K

I realize I just posted in the CFOP area about CFOP but ROUX is awesome and I love it, so I was wondering if my F2B are around 8 seconds if i solve DL and DR and then solve like F2l, should I do that, or solve using M moves?
