I just started learning roux, and most of my solves are between 25-35 seconds. However, I don't know how to orient the edges very efficiently. Can someone please direct me to a video/website that goes over some of the cases?

Hi,

I've been doing this method for 2 weeks now, I'm not timing myself till I learn all CMLL. So far I've only learnt cases A-C (anything else gets converted to Sune/Anti-Sune first).

I'm mostly learning from Waffle's website and the thread here:
https://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?20355-CMLL

I have a question. This might be stupid, but what exactly does edge flip mean on some of the algrithms?. Like for example B2 RU2R2F2RF'R'F2R2U2R' (4 flip)?

Thanks.

It means how many edges get flipped, so if you notice before cmll that there are some misoriented edges, you can use the shortest alg you know, but if edges are all good, do a cmll which affects none.

mhmm, and if you know exactly which edges get flipped you can influence 4a with accuracy and confidence :). also knowing what effect your algs have on edge permutation is very nice for just right out predicting EO! these things come with time, generally, but you can kickstart the process by analyzing your algs consciously.

right on..? the fop is great too. there are many opportunities for creativity with that method. but actually solving the cube is the fun part anyway, method isnt really important.

I use fop too but I average like 28 seconds with roux and I totally enjoy it more than cfop, but its just too much thinking for me in my solves. cfop is great bc u don't have to think about, like, anything.
tldr i like roux

dont like thought? learn l2l4. you do a layer, solve one second layer edge and u corner orientation, solve another edge and corner permutation, solve another and edge orientation, insert last edge while solving the remaining U edges; very mechanical. nobody seems to give it much consideration but it doesnt seem too bad really. there is also l2lk which is basically the same, but you just solve the last two secondlayer edges at once then do ell. same number of steps, less alg sets to learn (assuming you already know ell, if you dont, then there are simply fewer 'abstract' alg sets to learn)

I am a CFOP solver, and I just got into Roux. The thing is though, I learnt from a friend, and they explained it VERY quickly, so I didn't get much. When I looked at a tutorial, it was different than what I thought. Here is how I currently use Roux.

1. Build first 1x2x3 block (10 seconds)

2. Build second 1x2x3 block. (10 seconds)

3. Use 2-look OLL and PLL algs to solve top 4 corners. (5 seconds)

4. Do an M2 solve. For those of you who don't understand this, it is just like scrambling a cube ith only M and U moves, and solving as such, first getting the centers lined up, then getting the bottom edges in place, after that you use one of 3 alga to do OLL and then an EPLL. (7 seconds)

What am I doing wrong, or should I just stick to this for now? I MIGHT use Roux as my main method, but I'm still deciding, probably just as a backup method, but I don't know.

Everything fine until 3/4 step. Learn specialized 2 look cmll algs and learn roux Last Six Edges.

You don't need 2 look OLL just simpler algs and only PLLS you need are J and Y perm
You need to learn LSE stat, it takes way longer to place bottom edges and use ELL then a EPLL than to do it intuitively like all Rouxers do, it's not completely intuitive but there are like Mini Algorithms. Check Donovan tutorial for Corners and Waffo's Website for LSE (Last Six Edges)
EDIT: You're probably bad at Block - building as well, it's natural for starting out with Roux coming from a method like CFOP
I'll find a scramble and try to help

there's not much your doing wrong really, however, that which you are doing wrong is pretty major... your 4th step is way outta wack. the procedure is to orient all edges without regards to permutation by using only Ms and Us. after that you permute the UR & UL edges still using only Ms and Us keeping in mind that the orientation of all other edges must be preserved. after that you pretty much have two opposite layers done and all that is left is to solve the Mslice which, since everything is oriented, is very easy.
