joshisboreds progression thread (sub 20 3x3. 10/57 oll)

for 3x3, im learning most of f2l (i use intuitive for the disconnected pairs), and full pll. after both of these, im going to work on looking ahead to my first pair and full oll
Bad idea. What’s your current average? Full OLL is not going to help you much now, you should learn it when you’re at 13-15 second averages. And looking ahead to first pair is a thing that you should do much later on; not now.

You should learn 2-Look last layer. If you already know that, practice it until you’re really good at it.

i am 25-27. i said i was going to learn more f2l and pll, and then after i improve work on look ahead, and after im better at that then oll. im not learning oll right now, and i am going to work around to 15-20 before i even start

so close to sub 2:30 (stupid z perm why do you take so long)

what are some tips to improve at 2x2? i avg 6 seconds using ortega.
i plan out my first side, oll takes about 2 seconds, but pbl takes a while because of recognition + execution. any tips for getting faster at 2x2 pbl?

Make sure you know the permutation of the first side and learn CLL recognition to predict PBL and grind your algs; OLL shouldn’t take 2 seconds. Do you use 2x2 algs?

oops sorry i meant 1 second oll
but i have started to predict the orientation of the last layer, and on really easy inserts have started to learn to predict oll, but i think with enough practice and learning cll i will get sub 5 easily. thank you!

hmmm
he shouldn't learn full oll but he should learn 2-look last layer?
can you explain the apparent contradiction?

2-Look last layers has way less algorithms to memorize. It's much better to start off with 2-Look, as it will help you with recognition for future algs.
hmm. I think you meant 2-look OLL, which is 3 look last layer together with pll

2-look last layer is solving the last layer in 2 steps, like oll + pll or cll + ell

2-look last layer has way MORE algorithms to memorize than 3 look last layer or 4 look last layer
