[Help Thread] Colour Neutrality Discussion

I disagree a little; faz is not fast due to his colour neutrality, he is fast due to his solving skills and insane tps and lookahead.

Being colour neutral won't save many moves.

If you look at his walkthrough solves I think colour neutrality helps him make Xcrosses and helps him predict his first pair(Escher mentioned the first pair prediction I think)

But I agree his skills and lookahead are more important

I've never heard of anybody experienced/sub 15 who successfully switched.
really?

I'm already sub 14 at one color.
I've been trying to switch to color neutral for one week and I still can't beat sub 18.
I'm a consistent sub 20 from the first day I try learning color neutrality. (I'm not really improving)

what should i do? should i stick to one color? or should i continue learning color neutral?

There are advantages to both, but I prefer to not be color neutral.
My view is that I would spend too much deciding which cross to make, and less time planning it.
As it is, I'm still only capable of usually planning 3 cross pieces.

Im Partially colour blind, but still colour neutral, tbh i cant remember a time when i wasnt colour neutral.
although for some puzzles, i do prefer to start on one particular side *cough, megaminx*.

Colour neutrality doesnt affect my solving at all, because ive never been sub 25 (3x3) long enough to notice.

I suppose having 6x6 and 7x7 as my favourite puzzles helps a lot with ignoring colours and just searching for the pieces.

it also depends what method i decide to use, for example CFOP im fully colour neutral, but Block building methods like Roux, Petrus, zz and L2LK i generally start arround anything but orange/red (because they are almost the same to me).

Other than that, Colour neutral seems to have no cons for mid speed multi method cubers.

I know a guy that if he has a buffer piece placed for example he would do z2 in a BLDsolve

I'm colour neutral and I think it's neat.

It has been bothering me how we don't have succinct names for some concepts, so I've had some ideas. I want to make it clear that I have never seen these used before, and if they have I obviously haven't looked hard enough and I apologise.

Colour Neutral (obviously not my idea).
Colour Specific: W (specifying the colour used)
Dual Colour: W/Y or Dual Specific: W/Y (specifying the colours used)
Multi Colour: B/G (specifying the colours not used)

And what about zz do youbthink it is good to learn the edge orientatuon on blue/ green or should i try to make ot orange/ red too, to make the eo easier?

Color Neutrality - discussion and questions

I use the fridrich method and i can solve sub 20 but sometimes i get over 30 seconds. shall color neutrality help me? I am kinda practicing color neutrality but m having probs with the blue side and red and some i have never actually done too far. i am doing a routine that i got from this forums hat ll take me a month, but can any1 help. i am tryin to be color neutral as i have seen that my inspiration - zemdegs is color neutral.
Ur opinions shall be welcomed

My opinions are thus:
1) Learn to spell and use grammar properly so I can read your post easier. It's difficult to figure out exactly what you want when you write so unclearly.
2) Nobody knows whether CN actually helps or not, therefore there is no saying whether it would be of any benefit to you.
3) Do what you want. If you like solving CN then do it. If you prefer one colour then do that.

If you're getting times over 30 seconds, then color neutrality isn't the problem. You just need to practice in general. If you want to be color neutral, though, then go for it.

Problem mostly lies within F2L and Cross. Make sure you do your cross in 3 sec. F2L in 8 sec and OLL and PLL, recognition and execution in 3 seconds and practice like crazy. I got sub 20 in 2 and half months. If I can do it, anyone can do it :)
I did 100 solves each alternative day. In the 1 day gap, practice look ahead, solving cross blind. These will help you! and get a better cube
If I recon, you have a fangshi v2, lube it up and make it smooth by solving immense. I like fangshi over weilong :)
Good Luck!
And colour neutrality should be learned once you start getting like 9 sec solves but it is not important. Dual colour neutral is more than enough!

He is from India, therefore, his native language is most likely not English. Give him a break.
It is Hindi for Native language speakers and as she is from Kolkata, her language is Bengali!
Yeah, cut her some slack!
And most probably it is a she!
If someone comes to an English forum, they should speak English. I'm not saying they should be fluent, but at least understandable when read at normal speed.

Este es un forum Inglés?
Aye carumba, el burro amoroso!

In all seriousness, just start solving CN the whole time. It's what I did and I was fully CN in 2 days.

It's not too difficult, just do a bunch of solves without timed inspection first to get used to it, and I don't recommend color neutrality games. It helps to learn it early though because the issue some people have is transitioning once they reach the 25 or below mark since single color is already common place for them.

Also it is important to understand that color neutrality isn't starting with whatever cross you feel like (though it does make doing it much easier). Rather, it is starting with which ever cross color or first step color is most efficient which is the advantage it gives, then being able to complete the solve. I only say this because it's surprising that some veteran cubers don't get it sometimes.

I hope this helps I've been color neutral since I started so I don't know if I'm on point with somethings.

Color Neutrality

Hi! I have been color neutral for over a month now. For some reason, I get inconsistent times. Should I become opposite color neutral? How can I become more consistent with CN other than practice?
