bldcuber314's Road to 5BLD NR- Quitting cubing?

Pyra R2 was decent, 4.16 average. Would have been 3.7-3.8ish but on the last solve my cube locked up really badly and it took me a little over a second to fix it(not a normal lockup).

3BLD finals was really good, I think this was my first proper fixed seating final, where they assign seats for all the finalists(I was next to Luke Garrett lol). Also they called out all the names of the finalists by seed order so that was cool, never had that before(this is a pretty huge comp so it makes sense ig).

In finals, my first solve was a 36.55 with 9 sec memo(a few lockups but still a solid time). My only goal for finals was sub 40 single, so even though I DNFed the next two solves and didn't get a mean I don't really mind.

No PRs in finals but that's OK, I also got 4th place in 3BLD which was insane. 3BLD is my weakest BLD event so I didn't expect it to be my highest placement in this comp. I'm really happy with 4th, especially since this comp had 277 competitors, was a regional championship, had 93 3BLD competitors and a bunch of top players/WR holders. There was also pretty much no way I could have podiumed in 3BLD, 3rd place was a 30.33 and the scrambles were pretty bad.

This comp was really good, I didn't do great in 5BLD or MBLD but I still got a lot of nice results and had a good time!

DNFed out of cutoff in Clock, 4:55 single and 5:13 mean in 6x6(both overall PBs bc I don't do 6x6 at home). Then 5BLD-

First solve was a 10:22[4:48] which is slow but a success.
Second solve I DNFed a 10:13 by 2x.
Third solve was just bad, 8:55 DNF(didn't safety).

4BLD-

First solve was 3:42 DNF by 2x.
Second solve was 3:46(safety).
Third solve was 2:51[59] DNF by 2w 😭😭 😭

3 big BLD DNFs by 2 pieces rip

At least I qualified for 4BLD in UKC though, and also I'm a WCA Silver Member now(averages/means in all sighted events and singles in every event)

MBLD update-

So I thought I qualified for MBLD in UKC then on the last day of registration for UKC somebody registered and I'm down to 17th. It sucks that I'll lose 2 attempts, but I'll just have to move past it and focus on big BLDs. I registered for Corby Autumn 2025(Sep 20-21) which has one attempt of multi, so that'll be my next chance to do MBLD officially.

I did a 24 cube attempt today to try for my first weekly comp event win, the time was good but the result wasn't, 19/24 55:47. Hopefully I still come 1st.

Splits-

37:22 memo(1:33.41 per cube)
18:25 exec(46.04 per cube)
55:47 total(2:19.45 per cube)

DNFs-

One exec error
2 cubes off by 2c
2 cubes off by 2e

As part of a lost Worlds bet I had to learn Clock BLD. Did that today(for like the 3rd time lmao) and finally got my first success on my 10th attempt-

I've solved 7/11 WCA puzzles BLD now, not sure if I'll go for 6/7, Mega or Squan. (I don't think I can even turn specific layers blindfolded in 7x7 and Squan seems so hard it probably isn't worth it)

So I was compsimming 3BLD for UKC(I'm doing a compsim of most events I qualified for every day), in R1 I got a 1:04, 39, 34(got a mean but rip the 1:04 lol). Then in finals I got overall PB single(first 3BLD PB single since January)!-
