Are we talking about
y2
u U2 B2 (3)
as FB? Because that's the easiest I found. :) Then what's the storing?

Not this one. Unless you wish to do NM-Blocks. They were talking about Blue-Red and Green-Orange pairs with Yellow at the bottom.

how do you guys fingertrick the dots case with the E2 stuff. I've never been able to do th at well so i have been all the M2 and U2.

You could always try to avoid it when inserting UL and UR. Setup: U M2 U' E2 M E2 M'. Solution: U' M' U2 M2 U2 M' U'.

But if I absolutely need to do it, I put my right thumb at the F center and middle finger at the B center and index finger at BU, and do E2 as Uw E' U' then M as an index finger pull of BU to UF.

Left thumb on FDL. Left middle on BDL. Right thumb on FUR. Right middle on BUR.
E2: Push BR with right ring. Help with left wrist.
M/M': right index or left ring.

Although I think there are far better techniques.

I hold the bottom right corners with the thumb and middle finger of my right hand, have my left index in position behind UB. Pull the E layer with the right index from BR to FL, do the M move with the left index, push the E layer from FR to BL with the right index (this might be awkward but it works well for me), do the final M' with the right ring finger. Don't know if that explanation was understandable, I did my best. :p

E2 M E2 M' is far faster than the MU solution imo, but I guess it's a personal choice.

yeah, i've been doing it like you but i average around a second if i don't lock up. with the Ms and Us i average just under one second with almost no lock ups ever. i guess i'll keep trying to practice it.

I haven't timed myself on it but it feels really fast, definitely no longer than a second (maybe 1.5 idk). I get lock ups on it too if I'm trying to force it too much, I just try to relax and let it flow, do the most accurate turns I can. It's bound to get faster with time, so I think you should just go with whatever fingertrick works best for your hands.

My fastest E2 M E2 M' in 10 attempts was about 0.7 sec. My fastest M' U2 M2 U2 M' U2 M2 U2 in 10 attempts was about 1.3 sec. I also feel the E2 M E2 M' faster, despite it's a bit harder to perform.
Even as a CFOP user, I can see what you mean: there are two L perms I know; R' U L' U2 R U' R' U2 R L and F U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' F'. The first one is like E2 M' E2 M: it's very slow to execute. I can't get a very good TPS using it. However, the second one is very nice and I can get a much better TPS using that alg. However, it's just too long for me, and so I can't get a good time with it, just like (M' U2 M2 U2)2. The shorter alg is, in both cases, faster, despite being hard to fingertrick.

I perform that J-perm like this: R' U r' F2 R F' R' F2 R r. If you can control the wide Rs and doubleflick F it's very fast, one of my favourite algs. ^^

hmm, i guess i average about 1.1 with the M - U solution and 1.3 with the E2. another problem i have is the fact that there is a need for slight regrip which means i'll need to keep practicing it until i average something like .8 with it for it to be as good.

None of the fingertricks I try seem to work for me. Even if you can do that L perm fast, I could do the same analogy with A perms. l' U R' D2 R U' R' D2 R2 is horrible to execute for me, but R U R' F' r U R' U' r' F R2 U' R' is great. But too long. The shorter A perm is faster, but only because of its length.
Please don't say you like A perms too? :p

No, I despise A-perms and I have no need for them. I like that alg because it's the shortest adjacent corner swap that doesn't affect orientation (that I know of), and it's different. (:

I need 0.8 for E2 M E2 M' and 2.0 (!) for M/U, because i can't do double flicks (neither U nor M) and therefore i had to do 14 moves instead of 8.

Haha, I wish I had no need for A perms either. I can't do double flick D2.
Another alg that isn't an A perm (that I find faster for Roux) is R U' R F2 R' U R F2 R2, or R U' l D2 l' U l D2 [l' R'], which despite being similar to A perms (and also incuding D2s) is actually decent. It preserves orientation, but changes the permutation of some M/U layer edges, hence why it is only useful for Roux/PCMS.
