Hi!

I find it very annoying when I create a thread and it gets moved to one of the "one-answer" threads (such as the "One Answer Question Thread" or similar threads like "The 4x4 help thread" or "The Petrus home thread"). When this happens, I usually don't get a decent answer. This can be for a number of reasons, including the following:
-There are always a few discussions going on at once (this is why we can make seperate threads, one per a discussion)
-People seem to think that "one answer" means "one-word answer"
-The threads are too big to read properly, or to find where your question was
-There is a lack of context (e.g. I posted a 4x4 cube-related question in the "Hardware Area" and it was moved to "The 4x4 help thread" in the "Speedcubing help/questions" forum)
-The threads are sometimes dead

What do you think should be done about this?

Thanks,

But I never get anything from the forum because of them! I would benefit much more, as would other users, if every thread were not moved into one higgldy-piggldy thread.

Pretty much anything I have asked in the one answer thread, has been answered. I don't see your problem. If you have more questions about the answer you got, just ask it, and you will have a "discussion" which will answer everything you need.

I can't discuss anything in those threads because there are always multiple discussions going on at once.

This forum has a policy of using old threads rather than making new ones. If you don't want your question asking threads to end up in the OAQT, FIND A DIFFERENT THREAD THAT THEY FIT IN. It's as simple as that.

Get over it, you'll never sway the higher powers
This forum is called "suggestions", so that's what I'm doing. I'm not trying to "sway" anyone, I'm just trying to find out what would be the best thing for our forum; from the users' point of view.

What you're saying would just flood up the forums, making them bad for the users to read. The current way is the cleanest and simplest way it could be in imo, while still having many subforums.

Maybe you shouldn't title your threads like "Birthday 4x4". Cause, you know, nobody cares! Provide some actually relevant information in the title. By starting like you did there, you're annoying and practically asking to be ignored.

I agree with the majority. I gave you a full and comprehensive answer yesterday and it went complete unacknowledged when it did have it's own thread, then it was moved and you are complaining.

Your threads are being moved or closed because they are all asking very simple questions that have been answered dozens of times before. If every single noob were allowed to start threads asking the same exact questions, this forum would be nothing but noobs asking noobs noob questions. You're threads are being moved or closed because they are bad threads of no substance.

I have nothing against noobs. I'd still call myself a noob. But noobs that would rather start dozens of threads, asking a simple question that could've been answered with a google search, those noobs are really annoying. Especially when they can't learn to take advice. Instead of searching through these forums and discovering answers to questions yourself, you've chosen to simply start a thread any time any old question pops into your head. That's the fastest way to annoy people and clutter this forum with useless threads.

I joined this forum six months ago, less than a week after I first learned to solve a Rubik's cube. In that time, I now average sub-20, I've learned CFOP and Roux, I've learned reduction on bigger cubes, I've switched to Yau on 4x4, I've successfully modded 3x3s, 4x4s, 5x5s and 6x6s...in short, I've learned a whole buttload of stuff, I've certainly learned more than you, in almost no time at all. Now, in my six months on speedsolving, I haven't once started a thread (outside of a couple ISO or FS threads), because not once did I feel it was necessary to start a thread to have one of my questions answered.

You're using this forum as your own personal butler to give you the answers with the least amount of effort. This isn't Siri. Do some actual research on your own part. Learn to answer questions for yourself. We're not here to serve you and answer your simple questions. If you don't, pretty soon people will stop responding to you altogether.
