One Answer Cuboid and Shape Mods thread

On a 3x3x5 fisher cube, I'm getting a weird parity where the FU and FD centers are swapped when the rest of the cube is solved, what alg can I use to fix this?

"Windtalkers" isn't the name of the puzzle, it's just a generic brand name they slap on all of their puzzle releases.

I don't think this puzzle has a specific name, but it's just a 4x4 shapemod which is colored differently (8 colors, not 6). Google any tutorial for the LanLan 4x4 Octahedron, it will help. It's literally the same thing, but with a more "flattened" appearance. Everything else will be identical.

Oh yes, this is what I want to find. This is the true name of it. Thanks so much.

For the record, this isn't the actual 4x4 Octahedron - the shape is a bit different - but the relationship between pieces and the arrangement of colors are identical. This one is more obscure, weirdly shaped and I don't think there is a specific name for it.

But what matters is that the solve will be the same. Just like it would be for a normal 4x4 which is re-stickered to have 8 colors.

How do you get scrambles for other cuboids like 1x2x3s and stuff like that?

Must give a little more attention to cuboids, the 2x2x3 & 2x3x3 are the only ones I solve regularly. Trouble is, I have so many cubes that, paraphrasing Homer Simpson 'Every time I learn a new algorithm, it pushes an old one out of my head!' ;)

Has anyone gotten this error in the YJ diamond cube or in another 3x3 shape mod? This is a single misoriented corner with the the rest of the cube solved.

All I can think of is that there are multiple corner pieces with this same shape that may be causing this. There appears to be edges that are the same shape too, could having one of the duplicate pieces “solved” in the wrong place lead to a case like this? The duplicate corners and edge I mention are not all in a single layer but distributed about all layers. Thanks.A9B19F0F-68D4-4AE0-9314-52BF2630DFB3.jpegB59C93E8-9E1E-47FA-AF32-B95AFCB074EB.jpeg65C5A9A5-7852-44A9-9673-010F30D7046F.jpeg

do the Beginner method corner twist alg on the twisted corner and the pointed corner on the bottom. You can get a similar problem on almost any shapemod, just find the corner that can be twisted without any effect.

Do you mean holding the twisted corner on front right on the top with the duplicate piece on bottom directly below it and doing R’ D’ R D until solved? That’s not working, is there another twist alg you’re referencing?
