Hi, Jack's here
In this forum I'd like to share my method that is based on Lau method

Lau Method

Lau method goes something like this:
  1. Base Edge Orientation (BEO/Cross-1)
  2. I-F2L (Phase 1 Inverted-F2L, Phase 2 F2L Proper)
  3. FLL (VHSL/VLS + COLL)
  4. EPLL
While testing the method, I thought that somehow implementing Pseudo D layer aligning would have much faster figuration for solving
So, at the moment I solve 3x3 according to this step:
  1. Pseudo 2x2x3 Building
    1. FB-Line: Create line on either left side or right side by slotting its F and B slot
eg.) Left side >> Slot FL and BL, Right side >> Slot FR and BR
      FBLine.png
    2. D-Line: Create line on D layer with any opposite edges relates on D and rotate / place it as FD - BD Line
eg.) (Assume White as D) Both [White Blue and White Green] and [White Red and White Orange] can be placed as FD-BD Line
      DLine.png
    3. 3rd Line: Slot the matching Corner-Edge-Corner 1x3x3 line to the D layer's opposite side of FB-Line and perform D2 afterwards to create pseudo 2x2x3 on the same side as FB-Line
      Pseudo.png
  2. OLL + F2L
    1. E-EO: Insert any bad edges to the E slot that is placed on opposite side of FB-Line
After this, perform either d or d' and bring the pseudo 2x2x3 block to the bd
      EEO.png
    2. 5EO: Orient the rest 5 edges using easy algorithms
      5EO.png

      eg.)
      1. (Bad edges) 3U1D >> place the U bad edges to UL, UF and UR and perform: M' U' M or M' U M
      2. 1U1D >> place the U bad edge to UB and perform: M' U' M U' M' U' M or M' U M U M' U M
      3. 2U0D Opp (2U is placed on opposite sides like UF-UB) >> place the U bad edges to UF and UB and perform: F (R U R' U') F' (Think as T shape)
      4. 2U0D Adj (2U is placed on adjacent like UF-UR) >> place the U bad edges to UF and UR and perform: F (U R U' R') F' (Think as P shape)
      5. 4U0D >> most tricky one, but you can deduce this as 3U1D by doing: M' U2 M U2 after this, perform 3U1D
    3. F2L + WV: Solve the rest slots and perform Winter Variation on last slot
Though using pairing would be difficult so I recommend separate recognition as E layer + D layer
Even if you don't know Winter Variation, doing the F2L results in CO + PLL state
      PLL.png
  3. LL: If you've done Winter Variation, this would be PLL
If you've done F2L, this would be either COLL + PLL or ZBLL
    PLL2.png
  4. ABF: Align both U and D face
    Solve.png
Although this isn't better version of the Lau method, it could be great variant of it

Example solves:
(I'm not good at doing 3rd Line but I think you can do this by using the knowledge of Roux)
  1. Scramble: F' U L R2 F2 D2 L2 D L2 U2 F' L' R2 D2 L R U

Thanks for reading!
That was easy to follow!
If it is original (probably is, nut I am not familiar with MANY of the methods there are)then you would want it to have a distinct name. If it is ok with you, I can try cooking one that is catchy and cool(ish)

That’s interesting, would it be possible that you make or post a vid walking us through the solve? I considering naming it appropriately
I'll make the video when I have enough time
That’s just another restricted Petrus method variant
I cannot deny on that
The biggest difference would be how to form the 2x2x3 block and how easier to adapt the concept of pseudo forming

Are you planning to make a video tutorial as well?

Video is Uploaded!
Hello great! If it’s possible to reedit, can you remove the “Base Edge Orientation” term and replace it with IB-1 / pArrow or Cross -1 as I am trying to remove confusion for that step.

Thank you!!

/PS: I’m also compiling the guides a videos made in relation from my method, I’ll be sure to add yours on my resources and hyperlinks/

Could I quote this on the description and captions instead?

Tips and my current flow:
With my current flow, I start with both FB-Line and D-Line at the same time which can be optimized during inspection

If both edges that can be used on 3rd line is bad edge, I do either
  • [Placing bad 3rd line edge on top] (D or D') M' U' M
  • [Placing bad 3rd line edge on bottom] S move to bring it to top, U' and prime move of the S move
With this, I can not only correct the edge smoothly but also pair it with corner easily
While making 3rd line, I also see E-EO forming as well so I can connect to the next phase smoothly

After doing d or d', I create FD + one of the slot using following step
  1. If FD edge is on top or sides, pair it with either FDL or FDR corner and bring it to bottom
  2. Insert the correct edge to either FR or FL
If FDL is inserted, insert FR or do D' and insert FL
If FDR is inserted, insert FL or do D and insert FR
If either FL or FR is occupied, there's nothing to worry about
  3. Pair the empty slots
If FR is empty, do D
If FL is empty, do D'
If both is occupied, there's nothing to worry about
There's also some patterns like FD+corner is formed on top and FL or FR can be inserted easily
For that, I do F2 insertion instead
And then I form the rest pair for the remaining slot, do Winter Variation and PLL or COLL and PLL

Example solve:
Scramble: D2 U2 F' R2 D2 L2 F D2 B2 R2 F R' U' B D2 R' F D L2 R'
Solution:
y // inspection
U L' U'D L r2 x' U L' U' L' x // FB-Line + D-Line
R' U' R' U' S' U' S R2 D2 U R2 D2 // 3rd Line
F (R U R' U') F' R2 U' R' d' // E-EO
// 5EO skip
L' U L F2 D' // FD+R slot
U L' U L U' L' U' L2 U L' U L U2 L' D2 // L slot WV+ADF
U R' U2 R U2 R' F R U R' U' R' F' R2 // PLL
U // AUF

Another Tips and additional flows:
If you have 2 FB-Line edges paired on the same side faces but not right center, what I would do is
  1. Pair it to U-D
  2. Do the E move
  3. Make it FB-Line
This would results in easier creation of FB-Line
Also, if the center is the opposite of the color which supposed to be, I'd do d2 D2 instead of E2

For FD + one slot phase, if you have paired Corner-Edge and placed E-Edge but either
  • E-Edge is inserted correctly but Corner-Edge pair is on U
  • E-Edge is inserted wrongly but Corner-Edge pair is on D
What I'll do is F (M' U2 M) F' (or F if Corner-Edge was on U) this would result in FD + one slot creation without disrupting EO

Pairing tips:
  • If you have FD edge on U, pairing corner facing B on UL, I suggest using r U2 r' (this also allows inserting UL edge to FR and preserving FL edge)
  • Mirror to the above case, FD edge on U, pairing corner facing B on UR case would be l' U2 l
  • If you have wrong paired Corner-Edge slot (not FD) on U, try using the knowledges of keyhole

Example Solve
Scramble 1: U2 B' L2 B2 D' F2 U2 B2 F2 U F2 R2 U F' D F2 U L' R B' U2

Solution 1:
L' // FB-Line on L
D' M' U M' U' r2 // D-Line
U'D R U R' D U2 R2 D2 U2 R' d' // 3rd Line + E-EO
F (U R U' R') F' // 5EO 2U Adj

U' L U2 L' U2 L F' L' U' L U L F L2 U2 // PLL (Ra-perm) + AUF

Scramble 2: F D L2 B2 R2 B2 L' U2 B2 U2 F2 L' B2 D' B2 R D' B' U' B

Solution 2:
