Petrus is like, so dead now.

Do you use Petrus (or even a variation of it)

Yeah, it actually recieved hate when it was first introduced for being a quote unquote "algorithm heavy petrus" lol. They arent wrong tho.
Haha yeah, I’ve heard that too. It definitely leans more toward the algorithmic side compared to classic Petrus, but it’s interesting how it blends blockbuilding with advanced reduction ideas. I like seeing how different methods evolve from the same foundation.

There’s literally over 200 algorithms. The good thing is that they are super easy and ergonomic, the LXS algs average around 6 moves each.

well tbh i dont think it can exactly be shunned on for alg count.
ZBLL is basically necessary to get world class with most methods.
EOPAIR pointless.
LXS algs are easy to learn

Yeah, this is a good point. ZB, which is becoming the next best method in the past year has 798 algs, while what can be considered optimal for APB only adds up to 620 if you do the 11 EO algs, even with full EOPair it's only 737, which is actually less then ZB has. Though there is the question of whether ZBLS or LXS is actually better, on one hand LXS has less algs, but ZBLS has had more development. LXS is also only for the FR slot, while ZBLS could be in any slot, though BL should almost never be used. With ZBLS there is the benefit of only needing to look at one pair and EO, while with LXS, EO was already done, but you need to look at 3 pieces. So it's pretty difficult to accurately predict which one is actually better since APB has had almost no development at a high level, while ZB has been almost fully mastered by Xuanyi, and to some extent Qixian and Tymon. Though Xuanyi's algs are not very good in some cases so that's why he hasn't reached the limit with ZB but for recognition he is far and away the best one to do it.

basically what he said guys

What if someone came up with a (semi)algorithmic EODFDB for LEOR after building roux FB? Could potentially make up for petrus's EO block extension, arguably the worst step. Yes I know that there are LEOR EO algs out there but they don't solve DFDB and I waste a lot of moves on it every time.
I get real excited when I manage to solve EO stripe with <RrUD> OH

How many Petrus method variants are there currently?
I think we've come to the point where the line between petrus variants, big three variants and standalone methods has blurred so much it's not much sense to classify them as petrus-derived rather than just call them EO block building methods. On the larger scale there's all variants starting with EO223 (Depending on how you got there there's LEOR, YruRU, APB for instance), there's similar methods like Nautilus and CELL, there's allotropes like XEOarrow, X cross with partial edge control and there's a heck load of finishes (4C, LL, LSLL, CxLL+EPxx). Petrus has become more like a global concept than a method.
Dang I should've just posted a link to Athefre's essay. I just wasted 200 words

I use Petrus, and I have noticed nobody is really using it anymore. I, along with a couple of other people, am like the solitary Petrus user on this forum which is still active. The majority of users seem to be CFOP, Roux, or ZZ :(. So there isn't much discussion on how to improve on specific areas here for me. What are your thoughts on this? Why has usage of the Petrus method dwindles? Anymore people using Petrus?
Think CFBL or Platform my method never Born in community.
