After 2 weeks of intense practice I have brought my average down from around 24 to 9-10. I currently use a Qiyi Pyraminx but all the YouTube improvement videos say you need a good pyraminx to get fast, any help there maybe?

Right now I average 2.5 on pyraminx.
Here is what methods I used when I averaged different times:
Sub 15: Lbl
Sub 10: Lbl
Sub 8: intuitive l4e
Sub 7: intuitive l45
Sub 6: intuitive l4e
Sub 5: intuitive l4e
Sub 4 : intuitive l4e & starting to experiment with keyhole
Sub 3.5: better l4e algs, Oka, 1 flip
Sub 3.2: sub 3.5 but with better intuitive solving and better l4e algs
Sub 3: optimial l4e algs, oka, 1 flip, wo, Nutella, bell, and even better intuition
Sub 2.8: sub 3 but faster turning and better intuition
Sub 2.7: sub 2.8 with better intuition and turning
Sub 2.6: sub 2.7 with faster turning and better intuition
At this point I would say 30%of my solves are just setups to a four mover and then a last layer alg, 20% are setups to the good 1 flip case, 30% are l4e, and the rest are just me finding something that works, but is not a method. All of my solves are two look, and probably a third of them are one looked.

Thanks! I now average about 8 seconds with intuitive L4E and have decided to get me the X-man bell pyraminx as it was on sale and because my Qiyi was constantly locking up.

Where can i find the best l4e algs? I currently average sub 8 and i use a lot of l4e algs but there’s still lots of cases that i dont know and there aren’t as many resources out there for pyraminx compared to 3x3

Personally, I learnt (procrastinated for 3 months and then learnt) from this video.

When I needed actually algs, I learn them from here.

i have tried but it doesnt seem to be working any other ideas?
I don't think there is any algorithm for this since it won't really come across any of the pyraminx methods normally. So as @cirnov2 said, just take the edge out and put it in the slot in its correct position.

when i was solving i came across this do any of you know an alg for it View attachment 20026View attachment 20027

Flipping two edges in the front on the top layer can be done with: R' L R L' U L' U' L
To flip two arbitrary edges intuitively, you can do set-up moves so both edges are in the front on the top layer, then do the above alg, then undo the set-up moves. Oftentimes some of those set-up moves will cancel with the alg so it's still only 8 moves.

As an example for your particular case, you can hold it with yellow on top and green on the bottom and do:
(L) R' L R L' U L' U' L (L')
The L is the set-up move so both edges are in the front on top, then the L' is added at the end to undo that set-up. Notice that the last two moves actually cancel (since L L' is the same as doing nothing), so you can do it in 8 moves with: L R' L R L' U L' U'

There are actually many many algs for flipping two edges on Pyraminx, here's a complete list of algs for when the edges are in the front on top:
U L U' R U' R' U L'
U L' U B' U' B U' L
U' R U' B U B' U R'
U' R' U L' U L U' R
R U' R' U R' L R L'
R U' B U' B' U R' U
R' U L' U' L U' R U
R' L R L' U L' U' L
L U' R U R' U L' U'
L R' L' R U' R U R'
L' U L U' L R' L' R
L' U B' U B U' L U'

You can use these with set-up moves to make your own algs to flip any two edges. :)

(Hopefully this thread is still active even though the last post was a year ago) Just had a random thought. Is there an alg sheet for pyraminx where you build a V but one of the V edges is flipped? If so, would it be worth it to learn those algs?

Don't think theres that exactly but FFL is vey similar, this video has algs for FFL:

Learning more V solutions is crucial to getting more efficient on pyraminx. I am still struggling with efficiency, but the cstimer solvers tool for pyraminx Vs has been really helpful in the past few months. Cube Master's video on efficiency during Vs is also super good.
