Should I switch to Roux?

I average 20-23, sometimes 19 with 3lll and intuitive f2l and 3 slotted edge jperm algorithms. I feel like switching to roux, because of the less algorithms. i feel like 300 or something just for sub 7 is too much, and the 50 with roux is fine. plus it seems respectable. Should I switch?

It's really just your choice. If you don't like learning algs, then you could switch, but you are doing very good with CFOP, so it is whatever you have the most fun solving with.
I got this fast in 3 months, and i think i'm doing well, but i really hate algs. And roux seems like it's wayy better, so idk why people use cfop.(other than r u moves)

I think considering how well you are improving with CFOP, you should definitely stick with it. No one likes algs, but you don't need to learn 300 algs to be sub 7. Max Park is low 6/ sub 6 and he only knows OLL and PLL (he might have started learning ZBLL now)

You can learn how to do Roux if you want to, but I would suggest you stick with CFOP for speedsolving.

Roux is not way better than CFOP, lots of Roux fanboys come up with these dumb arguments for why it is better but it really isn't. Roux can be almost as fast as CFOP but you should just stick with CFOP.

EDIT: Also CFOP is a MUCH better method if you want to solve other puzzles like 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7.

Your choice but I wouldn't say "just sub 7" lol.

I switched to Roux because I like blockbuilding and more efficient solutions. Not to say that you don’t use these skills with any other method but I would personally rather improve by practicing efficiency than drilling TPS and look ahead.

Bottom line:
At least try out other methods that interest you and choose from there.

Just an overall tip:
Anyone who says you definitely should either switch or not doesn't know what they're talking about.

I would give roux a try, I was in your exact situation a few years ago, and I can't stress enough how switching changed my cubing career forever. Sudently cubing felt fun, refreshing, and interesting.
If I was to give you one piece of advice, it would be: Regardless of which method is faster, you'll likely be faster with the method you like the most. The difference in the amount you practice depending on how much you like the method is, I feel, much more relevant than the subtle difference in speed between the methods (which no one even knows which method it favors).

yeah its really sucks that instead of averaging 5.5 with roux in the future he could be averaging 5.49 with cfop

i know that this thread is kinda old, and jp is probably already have switched to Roux, but this is not true. Methods dont have limits. I think i have heard of a guy getting sub 20 with a LBL method, and roux can be as fast as CFOP. Sean Patrick Villanueva has proven this by getting a sub 6 average with roux.

Nah, I stuck with cfop, and I average sub-16.

Roux CAN be as fast as CFOP, but why use Roux when it will hinder your ability to get fast at 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, 7x7, and Megaminx?

Mainly why I dislike Roux and ZZ is I can't do blcokbuilding at all. F2L is in my muscle-memory so much that I can't block build.
That's why I don't use Roux/ZZ/Petrus.
