Should I switch to Yau on 5x5?

Is yau reasonable for 6x6? It seems like a lot of the top cubers are using it but there is the deficit of bad center efficiency. While Yau does improve lookahead, 6x6 edge pairing isn't bad without it. When is the tradeoff between center efficiency and edge lookahead not worth it?

I use Yau for 4-7, and recently switching to 7x7, I don't think that if 8x8 was an official event, there would be many top cubers using Yau on it. If you are ready to put a good amount of time into it, then I think switching to Yau on 6x6 is absolutely worth it. Also, it depends both what you average and how much you enjoy Yau compared with redux. The main reason why I switched to Yau is simply because it's just way more fun than redux. @HawaiianKociemba2 what do you avg on 6x6?

This is from 7x7, but I thought this might interest you. In the picture the black is for redux and brown/gold for yau. Someone else researched this and couldnt find what method some use. Feliks his pr is redux btw but he uses yau now

I've decided that I will switch to Yau for 6x6. Maybe 7x7 in the future but I am not sure. Although the very top rankings are split between Yau and Redux there are a lot more people using Yau that are able to get top 25. Yau is also better for me because the transition to 3x3 stage is much easier.

It depends on your style and what you get faster times on. I know a lot of people who use Yau for 5x5 (Like J Perm and Feliks) but Redux is very popular also with many world class cubers using it. You could try switching and seeing which one is better for you.

I will probably keep using redux for 5 and up, it seems to be a lot easier for me, and having the cross done does not have as much of an impact for 5 and up because you have a bit of leniency to look for a couple cross pieces that you do not have in 4x4.

While I am struggling with it, I think I will have to use Yau for 4x4 because even Max uses it, and having cross pieces done for you is good because you don't have much time to inspect cross, so you might as well have it done for you already. Also, the restriction on centers is not too much of a problem on 4x4 because there is less centers.
