People always do the FB on the left? I do (with white or yellow on bottom) my blue/red blocks on my left and my green/orange on the right, so sometimes I do my FB on the left and sometimes on the right, is that ok?

Methematically it doesn't make a difference but it's mostly because most cubers are right handed so the R, Rw, U and M moves are easier and also you will frequently be right eyed if you are right handed so recog can be easier

What times would you guys consider on the threshold of fast (not speed cubing fast)? My times as of right now are: Ao100 34.794 Ao12 32.688 Ao5 33.705 PB Single 25.090 PB Ao5 31.087

"not speed cubing fast" then what type of fast are we talking about? are these your speed stacking times?

but i think you are fast when you are getting sub averages 12 almost exclusively. so the threshold to fast is when you are sitting right at the 12.00 mark for averages.

GuRoux showed me this for solving f2b efficiently.

Thank you!

On another topic, I'm just starting, and want to practice the first block of Roux. However, none the first block example solves on the Roux examples solve thread are coming out for me. Here's the first scramble, and the first 1x2x3 block solve from post #2.

B R2 F' R' D' R D F L U' F D2 B D2 B L2 U2 R2 L2

y x // inspection
D2 L U' L2 R U2 B2 // FB (7)

I'm doing the scramble, turning the entire block the direction of U on y axis, turning the block R on x axis, making the 7 moves carefully, but the block still is entirely scrambled. There is no block, and the same for the other first page solutions. Is there something I'm doing the wrong way?

it's working for me, make sure you're rotating the right way. y follows U and x follows R

hmm, works for me. most likely problem is you are doing L in the wrong direction? look up rubiks cube notation and make sure you doing everything correctly.

Just out of interest, what are people's preferences for FB and SB block building?

I usually do first square (exploiting any premade blocks) and setting up the second pair with so they pair up at the same time.

For SB I place DR then essentially do intuitive F2L but with the additional option of the m-slice.

Is there an online or downloadable solver, where the solver will show a Roux solution from scramble notation?

JARCS can solve each step individually and optimally, except CMLL; you have to look up an algorithm for that step.

But since they're all solved optimally, they can be very different from speedsolve solutions, especially LSE.

Some CFOP to Roux solvers that know OLL and PLL, try this:

Solve one whole side with intuition (make cross and insert corners if intuitive too slow)
Put all edges of the opposite on other side. ( with an edge 3 cycle)
Solve the other with OLL and PLL
L4E

Actually I think this would be much faster then CFOP regularly.

i don't think this would be faster, but cool idea
