Can someone give a more extensive explanation for the "Optimization" part of Gilles Roux's site (for LSE). I understand the part about identifying where your UL and UR pieces are and doing the corresponding moves, but I can't seem to figure out what he means by the misoriented edges appearing on top. An example would help too! Thank you.

So I don't double post

Really luck scramble from qqtimer:

Can anyone tell me how to get faster at LSE?
Stuck at sub 6 :( I feel inconsistent and sloffo.

Become more consistent with your recog of the 4a cases, try to track your UL and UR pieces, and practice recog for 4c (like for the FUU cases, know what move to make after placing UL and UR. Most importantly, make sure the stuff flows. Many times, really really fast TPS can get you pretty good LSE times, but if you use a little bit of look ahead and some "thinking ahead," you can shorten the solution with cancellations or tricks.

First block noob question:

I am currently working on being left/right colour neutral. Is there a standard (i.e., most efficient) way to look for my first block pieces? That is, is there a good method or best practice for scanning the cube and seeing the pieces I need for my first 3x2x1 block quickly? A felicitous pre-formed pair often makes it easy to chose which colour to use to start off my first 3x2x1 block, but I then still need to find the other 4 pieces, and I'm finding myself doing a lot of cube rotations just looking for them. While the rotations have helped me reduce my move count, I'd like to find the relevant pieces much more quickly during inspection, whether or not I'm lucky enough to have a pre-formed 1x2x2.

For example, do you look for the relevant centre first (when it's not part of your starting 1x2x2)? Corners? Edges? Or do you look for them all simultaneously?

And, if you look for them separately, how do you approach scanning for the edges, and how do you approach scanning for the corners?

Thanks for any thoughts on this!

i just look around the cube looking for pairs as your said. after doing a lot of solves, your eyes will be trained to automatically see the pieces if so possible. basically, you look for them all simultaneously.

That was fast

Super lucky SB haha. Rolled into an okay average.

Zam that 2 gen 2nd block is too OP.
Anyway, i'm looking to get a new cube soon from a comp on the 13th, because something is wrong with my Aolong, it has serious catching issues especially with M-slices, should i get a weilong or a dayan guhong / zanchi because i don't own one, both is also an option :3.
EDIT- it also corner twisted when I would've got my PB :'( DNF

I like my aolong, but other than that I really recommend the 55mm zhanchi. Partly because I have smallish hands, but it also turns really nicely (better than my 57 mm). A lot of people agree that the 55 mm has a slightly different feel than the full size. I also really like the Guhongs. V1 is smoother after breaking in while V2 is clickier in my experience. But bear in mind that these cubes don't usually have as good a feel out of the box as a lot of Moyu cubes do, but I think after breaking in and lubricating the core (and pieces maybe) they are great cubes. You could always get both and see what you like best.

I also think AoLong V2 is bad with M slices. V1 however is great with slices. It has to do with that V1 has more rounded pieces (wich causes more corner twists too unfortunatly). I like Zhanchi and Guhong both for Roux. I don't like them for CFOP though. Also Gan 357 is great with M slices, Weilong V2 is awesome and the Black Cyclone Boys.. These all perform excellent in Roux solves.

I got beaten, but don't worry, I'm not giving up. I just haven't tried filming anything because I've been really busy.
And btw my hands are about 18cm from wrist to tip of middle.

Lol im busy too. My tps is like 10 max with RUR'U' trigger times 6 time 2.4 ish. Record like 1.8. anyway, does that mean I have large hands? U seem to be older than me. In other news, I hit sub 14. 13.5 ish ao 50. Details of the ao 100 will be posted soon.
