Its just been pre lubed. shengshou cubes are mostly like thatI just got my Dayan Zhanchi, and when I take it out of the box its surface is oily. I mean the cube surface. Is it a bad cube? Or is every out-of-the-box cube like that? Thanks
(Sorry for my bad English)
This happens to me quite regularly with new Shengshou cubes, but not with Dayan.I just got my Dayan Zhanchi, and when I take it out of the box its surface is oily. I mean the cube surface. Is it a bad cube? Or is every out-of-the-box cube like that? Thanks

This was the case for most of my Dayans and all of my shengshous. Just excess silicon oil from the prelube job they did in factory.I just got my Dayan Zhanchi, and when I take it out of the box its surface is oily. I mean the cube surface. Is it a bad cube? Or is every out-of-the-box cube like that? Thanks

Adding more lube will not help in increasing the speed infact it will redice the speedSo I have this Zhanchi that I got last year but didn't do many solves on. I never really liked it before but I thought I would clean and lube it and give it a fresh try. I cleaned the gunk out of the core and then lubed it with weight 4 silicone (from the cubicle), according to the Lubix tutorial. I then assembled it and it felt a little slow, so I put just a little bit of weight 2 silicone on the pieces. I even loosened it a bit but it still feels really slow. Weird thing is, I recently got a Lubix zhanchi secondhand that feels amazing. I assume it went through the same lubing process, and the inside even looks like it has quite a bit more lube than the one I lubed today, yet the Lubix is not gummy or slow at all and is really smooth and fast. What is the problem here?

Clean out the lube and add little lube and break it in
it should be fine
EDIT:- YAY 200th post
It should be pretty well broken in from when I used to use it last year. But I'm not sit cleaning it out would help because even before I put lube on the pieces it felt slow. Do you mean I should clean out the core as well?
I bought a Dayan Megaminx (no ridges) from Wallbuys.
The centre screws come out. I'll be solving, and the centre will fly out of the cube causing 1/3 of the cube to explode. Anyone else having this problem?
I did not adjust the screws from new. It has happened on three sides so far, and not just once.
The puzzle has no problems otherwise. It turns well and is lubed with Silicon spray.
