I just got my Dayan Zhanchi, and when I take it out of the box its surface is oily. I mean the cube surface. Is it a bad cube? Or is every out-of-the-box cube like that? Thanks

(Sorry for my bad English :p)

This happens to me quite regularly with new Shengshou cubes, but not with Dayan.
Anyway, it can happen, so you should not worry too much about it.
Just wipe off the lube from the surface, do a few solves and then you should be able to tell if it is faulty or not.

This was the case for most of my Dayans and all of my shengshous. Just excess silicon oil from the prelube job they did in factory.

There's nothing wrong with your cube, at least not because of this. Just take a dry towel or paper towel and wipe it off of the outside surface.

Dayan Zhanchi Stickerless help?

I got a stickerless dayan zanchi (what a beauty it is :P) and I turned it out of the box and it was grreeat.

After a few turns it popped. So I got a screw driver and mindlessly re-tensioned it. Its corner cutting was down to one square, its turns roughly and its very crunchy, and it doesn't feel like good.
I looked up some re-tensioning videos on YouTube and followed there, the corner cutting worked, it didnt turn as bad as last time but it pops like crazy. So I tightened it and it turned bad and corner cutting quality was different in each side, but still pops on most solves.

Any ideas? Lube might work, but the tensioning is the main problem here.

EDIT: It also feels very loose. But the tensions seem to be already tight.

mine was that way. I took it apart, lubed it (traxxis 50k) and since I'm still pretty new tighter it a lot. it turns well now and is a fun cube. much better than before.

So I have this Zhanchi that I got last year but didn't do many solves on. I never really liked it before but I thought I would clean and lube it and give it a fresh try. I cleaned the gunk out of the core and then lubed it with weight 4 silicone (from the cubicle), according to the Lubix tutorial. I then assembled it and it felt a little slow, so I put just a little bit of weight 2 silicone on the pieces. I even loosened it a bit but it still feels really slow. Weird thing is, I recently got a Lubix zhanchi secondhand that feels amazing. I assume it went through the same lubing process, and the inside even looks like it has quite a bit more lube than the one I lubed today, yet the Lubix is not gummy or slow at all and is really smooth and fast. What is the problem here?

Adding more lube will not help in increasing the speed infact it will redice the speed
Clean out the lube and add little lube and break it in
it should be fine
EDIT:- YAY 200th post

It should be pretty well broken in from when I used to use it last year. But I'm not sit cleaning it out would help because even before I put lube on the pieces it felt slow. Do you mean I should clean out the core as well?

I bought a Dayan Megaminx (no ridges) from Wallbuys.
The centre screws come out. I'll be solving, and the centre will fly out of the cube causing 1/3 of the cube to explode. Anyone else having this problem?
I did not adjust the screws from new. It has happened on three sides so far, and not just once.
The puzzle has no problems otherwise. It turns well and is lubed with Silicon spray.

I recently bought my first 4x4 cube, a MoYu Weisu, from SpeedCubeShop. After reassembling, lubing and tensioning it, it exploded after about 1 minute of playing around with it. I though it was just bad luck, so I reassembled it again and tightened it a little bit. Sure enough, it exploded once again. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem as well, and thoughts on what the problem might be. Is it a dud? Assembling it takes about an hour because of all the parts, so if it is going to be a frequent occurance, I might lose interest in 4x4.

Thoughts anyone?

Dayan Zhanchi Corner Piece Problem?

Recently, I bought a stickerless Dayan Zhanchi, and just today, I noticed one of the corner pieces is slightly wobbly, not wobbly enough to pop though. It is strange because the other corners are not like that. For the non wobbly corners you can slightly pull it away from the other pieces, but that is just natural because of the tension that comes with it. Please tell me what could be a problem, or if it is just natural

Please help!

Thanks!
