[Help Thread] ZZ and ZB Discussion

Woah... What just happened?

1. 29.21 R' B' D' U' L2 D2 F' D' R2 L2 U' R2 F L2 D2 L' D' U2 F' D R' F R' L2 B'

OH. Blocks were just there and got a PLL skip. I'm switching definitely now :D

Thanks! I managed to reconstruct from memory:

R' B' D' U' L2 D2 F' D' R2 L2 U' R2 F L2 D2 L' D' U2 F' D R' F R' L2 B'

x2 // Inspection
U R2 F B2 // EOLine
U L U2 L' U R' U2 R' // Right 1x2x2
L2 U L' U L U2 L // Left 1x2x2
L U' L' // Left 1x1x2
U R' U' R // Right 1x1x2
y' x U R' U' L U R U' L' // OCLL
x' U2 // AUF

Sooo I guess I can ask questions here?

Anyway, I need some help with what I should work on:

I did an average of 12 for each main step

EOLine: 5.26
ZZF2L: 14.19
LL: 6.48
Total: 25.93

This is close to what my average is but I think my lookahead is holding me back, especially between EOLine and F2L...

Any tips appreciated :)

LL seems good compared to other steps. One thing that helped me was doing EOLine BLD. No mattter how slow you are now, I bet if you sat down and did 100 EOLine BLDs in a row you would be able to plan out EOLine every time in inspection. You can also do slow solves to help with ZZF2L movecount. Make sure when you do slow solves you try to discover better ways to do things.

and so i begin my quest for ZZ-b \o/

at least until i get to Sune/A-Sune and question whether i should do those too :P, but i'll ponder that more when i get there

I've got a question: If you get a 1x1x2 (or 1x2x2 with the DR edge placed), and it looks like this:

Do you do a y rotation and do R U R' U' R U R' U' R U R' , or stick with <R,U>?

I actually prefer to do U' first, as an AUF, then (R' U R U')3. Obviously, the last U' isn't necessary. It's just more comfortable to me than rotations or Ben's alg. The U kind of flows from the R', which feels cool.

this got me experimenting. i found: [U2] R2 U' R' D' R U R' D R'

it flows pretty well. i'm gonna switch to it.

I've been using ZZ for about 2 months now. And I'm almost back at my original average with CFOP =). I would probably be way past it by now but with school and sports there hasn't been much time to practice. But I still love ZZ =). F2L seems very smooth because of it being only L R moves

@ThomasJE

i stick with <R,U>, unless i can force an OCLL skip the other way.

if this happens for me on the left face, i usually do y/y' and <R,U>, unless i can force a skip.

also, i have another question similar to this one - hwo do you guys solve the left block twohanded? z rotation + <R,U>, <L,U> or y2 + <R,U>?

i personally cant really adopt the z rotation for twohanded so i just use my left hand, and im good with it - my left hand has become nearly as fast as my right hand since i started using zz.
