There isn't really a best 2x2 method, just like with 3x3. It varies with scrambles.
Some scrambles would be best for CLL, while others might be best for EG2, others for SS, Guimond, etc.

Beginner: About 10s+
You Start with: Learn= LBL,Ortega or Guidmond

Average: About 6s+
Learn how to Lookahead in ortega, Optimise algs for your current method

Advanced
Once you have become Sub5 : Learn CLL, Stop LBL, Practice ortega

Expert
Once you have reached your first sub3 average: EG-1, AntiCLL

The reason why I suggest you stop LBL is because it is very diffcult to Sub4 with. Unlike ortega the 2 PBL algs are longer and abit slower. And also making a face in ortega is much quicker than a layer in LBL. I suggest you keep going with ortega because you can sub 4 much easier and lookahead is much easier.

LBL isn't that difficult to sub4 with. I've done a 3.3x avg12 with pure LBL/Ortega.
