[Help Thread] What should I learn next?

The acronym "COLL" doesn't make sense and it doesn't follow our naming system. I know "OCLLCP" won't become mainstream, but I like saying it because it makes more sense and it's clear what it means based on other similar acronyms.
Good luck with changing that. If you're going to try though, it would be good to have more systematic and consistent names decided through consensus. The worst thing about "COLL" is that it forced "OCLL" which is inconsistent with "CPLL", "EPLL", etc. Your proposal just perpetuates that mess, as well as splitting the two things solved either side of the "LL" for inconsistency with meaningful names like "CPEOLL". Oh, and it says nothing about what's preserved, which is the missing information that led to names getting messed up in the first place.

Which Algorithm Set Should I Learn Now? (3x3x3)

Hello fellow cubers, Im just wondering what I should learn next. I currently know INTUITIVE F2L (I just mess around, and get the answer (I know somewhat the easy algorithms...), for my OLL, I just make the LL cross (as in basic), then do the last step in basic to get all the sides facing up. I currently know these PLLs (2 Look)- A a (Edge clockwise 3 corner perm), U a (edge clockwise), U b (edge counterclockwise), Z, and H perms.

My current average (just in case it is needed for whatever reason) is usually sub-1 minute (pretty consistent, almost never get anything above 1:10 after like 200 solves now, and times down to around 40 seconds...), and I do finger tricks for all my solves, I use too many cube rotations for my solves anyway... should fix that soon, but anyway...

I am in the process of learning E Perm for PLL.

Should I learn the F2L Algorithm set, 2-Look OLL, or the rest of PLL? or should I learn Full OLL?

If you voted, please reply below your reasoning (I have a Dyan Zanchi sticker-less, getting a Fang Shi Shuang Ren with stickers for competitions)

Your OLL method is extremely inefficient, learn 2-look OLL, then proceed to 1-look PLL, but keep in mind that 1-look OLL is not necessary for sub-15. Also, next time you should use the One Question One Answer thread for simple questions like this.

Learn 2-look OLL meaning all the cross-cases (Cases 3 13 21 22 35 36 48 from http://badmephisto.com/oll.php) and focus on your F2L. With 2-look oll and 2-look PLL you should be able to do last layer in less than 10 seconds. Last layer should count for 40% of the total time meaning that F2L should take 15 seconds and you can get times below 30 seconds easy with 2-Look oll and PLL.

The biggest focus here is obviously the F2L stage. World class cubers do that phase in 3-4 seconds. A good goal is to get F2L as a whole stage down to 20-25 seconds. When your F2L is under 25 seconds total you can start learning Full PLL and when your F2L takes under 10 seconds on average you should learn Full OLL. This is the typical guideline for efficient training. If you feel like learning algs feel free to do so, but do remember that most of the time comes from the F2L.

Most likely you need to get much better at finger tricks. I'm a slow solver but I've clocked 30,00 seconds with the basic method (first white edges on yellow side, then white cross, white corner insertion, F2L edge insertion, OLL to cross, cross to solved OLL with only sune algorithm and PLL with 2 algorithms). I'm fairly sure someone else could probably sub 20 with the beginners method.

What advanced method should I learn after CFOP?

I've been learning full CFOP and I'm almost finished with all my OLL'S. I was wondering what I should learn after that. Should I learn winter variation? COLL? VHLS? Or ZBLS? Also are there other things I can learn that May be a bit harder to find and if so where should I start to look or find them? Are any of these useful? And what do you use?

You mean which set of algs you should learn?

Personally, for CFOP, i only use full OLL + PLL and a few easy COLLs... so i guess easy COLLs could be good or maybe some easy OLLCPs...

Look at everything, VHLS, ZBLS, WV, OLS, ZBLL, COLL and others, and try to take the easy/best parts of them. I myself am working on WV and 2GLL right now.
Most of these are subsets of each other. You could only say learn OLS and ZBLL, and that covers everything else. 2GLL isn't important to learn unless you use ZZ.

Imo, learn better F2L tricks (e.g. l F' R U' R' U l') and OLLs/PLLs from different angles to avoid too many AUFs (e.g. R' U2 R' F' R2 U' R' F' U' F R U R' F U2' R). COLL and then WV are also useful sets to learn.

Learn advanced F2L.
This.

This too. I'm much faster with this Y-perm than with the regular one so learning this was a big win for me.

I use VHLS for OH, which gives me the same OCLLs that you get with ZZ. VHLS and COLL are subsets of ZBLS and ZBLL respectively, but COLL and VHLS are the best places to start and many don't go past them. Lastly, OLS algorithms can't be used for ZBLS because they only cover 3 move inserts.

Kajana, what do you average?

I ask this because I average ~11 seconds and don't know WV, COLL, VHLS, ZBLS, MGLS, ZZLL, 2GLL, multislotting, etc. Just cross, F2L, OLL, PLL. You can work on extra "advanced" stuff if you want to, but you certainly don't need it to be decently fast.

+1 for this. I'm sub 11 as well with just plain CFOP. I'm learning WV, but that's more just for fun.

idk both of the algs you post and I am nearly sub 10 ^^
