I have two hypothetical questions related to the WCA.

1: If two people at the same competition in the same round got the exact same Ao5 with all the exact same solves, which one would they put first on WCA Live?

2: With WCA IDs the first person with the surname Smith to go to their first competition in 2026 would have the WCA ID 2026SMIT01. Then the second person would be 2026SMIT02 and so on until 2026SMIT99. But if more than 99 people with the surname Smith went to their first competition in 2026 what would happen? Would their WCA ID have 11 digits instead of 10? Or would they have just 3 letters of the surname instead of 4?

If Ryan Smith gets a WCA ID after 2026SMIT99, then his WCA ID will be 2026SMIR01. This is what happened to Yiheng, his WCA ID is 2019WANY36

This would be incredibly rare, like ASTRONOMICALLY rare. I’ve only seen this when data is misentered (like for 2 people whose competition IDs are similar). But if this were to happen for real, I don’t think it would matter who they put first, and they might do it by what group they were in.

EDIT: I misinterpreted the question, @OtaMota 's response is more correct than mine. Thanks for clarifying!

If by first you mean, "Who would be visually higher on WCA Live" it would be by alphabetical order, done on the first character of the competitor's name. Sourced by checking FMC rounds, where the scenario happens all the time.
