Running cubers

Any tips on pacing? I kinda have to get sub-24 if I want to win a bet, which I think is doable, but it will be very hard.
Don’t go out to fast or slow. Find someone who is trying to run a similar time and with them if you can. Make sure your legs know how fast they need to move to make the race easier. If you don’t run often I would think it’s pretty hard to run that fast

Yes I am now realizing that. but now I think it only needs to be sub-25. I also forgot that it's harder to run in the winter. I think I almost just gave myself asthma running a mile to check my time (7:23)

That’s my average mile too, but my 5k time is 26:58. Have a decent first two miles, and really push on the third one

On Thursday I competed in track for the first time as a high schooler.
Absolutely destroyed my old PR of 6:57 in the mile, 5:43.43 is my new PR
This was my high school running debut as I didn’t do cross country

Congrats! You gotta do cross country though. Also Hilltoppers is a really fun name.

I’m doing cross country this fall, I didn’t do it this year due to marching band but regardless of whether or not I do it this year I’m gonna do cross country

I run occasionally, I'm pretty much always the fastest in my class, although I've never really timed.
Today, however, in PE I ran 800m in 2:59, but I'll try to time some myself.

Unfortunately, I have a thing where I will run a distance (e.g. the earlier mentioned 800m) and just not be, or minimally, be tired. I think I just need to actually run faster and not have a mindset of, "This pace shall be alright", as that hasn't really worked out.

Lots of easy runs = fast races. Try to think about a good easy pace as something conversational that you can talk with someone easily. For racing getting consistent at race pace takes a lot of practice.

Had my first meet of the outdoor season monday and ran a 2:17 800 split in the 4x8, and a 5:22 mile, which is crazy improvement for me. Previous PR’s are a 2:22 800 (this 2:17 doesnt count bc its in a relay) and a 5:57 mile lol.

I’m super locked in this season, hopefully i can sub 5 a mile by the end of the season.
