Guys how long did it take, from the day you switched method, to get your first sub 20 average?

Switched when I averaged about 40-50 (with Petrus), took me about two or three weeks to catch up.

I too switched when I was averaging the same with CFOP. It took me 6 months to get sub-25 avg. And, I have two sub-20 Avg5(both lucky)

Currently I am trying to transition from CFOP to Roux, and I want to know what I need to improve on. I just learned how to solve using Roux, so I am using OLLs and the T and Y permutations for CMLL. For LSE I just cycle using M' U M' with small adjustments until I get a case I know. This is what I average right now:
F2B: 26
CMLL: 7
LSE: 16
Total: 49

What would you recommend focusing on?

all i think you need to do is do many solves and learn LSE.

My roux is better and better, i like it.. but that LSE look ahead is FAIL more times and 4b -> 4c this is my weakness =(((
F2B 6-9 sec
CMLL 1-2.5 sec
LSE 4 - 8 sec ((((:mad::mad:
I'm probably doing something wrong)

do some untimed solves, and when you get to LSE, use some of the direct algorithms from here:

http://wafflelikescubes.webs.com/orientation.htm

You'll start to make sense of LSE a lot quicker.

For 4b - 4c recog, watch brusinque's (pandacuber's) vid on youtube. It helped me so much.

I'm assuming he means this one.

Seems like quite a restrictive way to do it. It'll definitely be good to know how to do it this way, but I think in the long term, the way Kirjava explains here is better, as you can check both the pieces that are in the UL and UR positions (both of which will be pieces that belong on the M slice) immediately before putting the pieces that belong in UL and UR in their place (the move after the M2 that solves them with respect to U layer corners). Based on checking both of those pieces, you can cancel into 4c by deciding whether to do U or U', while simultaneously being able to recognise the M-slice case (because you know what the BU sticker is). Hopefully that made sense.

I don't think you understand what was described in the video. Both systems provide the advantage you described.

Why do you need to check what's at both UL and UR? Isn't the whole idea of knowing what BU is to avoid these shenanigans?

It's so you can cancel into any case that would otherwise start with a U2, that's all. Admittedly, I've not practised tracking BU enough, so I won't pretend to be an expert on it, it's just that this was one benefit I've noticed when I have been practising it.

@Athefre: I may not have done, and if it does provide the same advantage then fair enough.
