Your second block isn't too bad, looks like 15 moves average? Perhaps if you slow move more in the second block, you will be able to more optimized solutions.

Im changing from CFOP to Roux Method

as the title says, i was a CFOP-born cuber doing sub-16 averages 4 years prior today. Last week i decided to get a Dayan Zhanchi from a local cubeshop the reason of which is that i need to divert my smoking addiction to something that is fun and could not hurt my body.. such as cubing.

after few turns i notice how much difference current speedcubes today from the rubiks brand i can still do cross in less than 5 seconds (not bad) for a returning cuber, my F2L is still sharp, though my recognition is a bit rusty, look ahead is great, it just that i think that my fingers cant keep up with the current faster cube brands such as the zhanchi. it locks up (not the cube) but my fingers.

my OLL sucks up.. 4 years ago, i know them all, including PLL.. some algs i transposed them into like finger friendly algs and less rotations.
same with my OLL is my PLL it seems i cant do all of them. i did try to remember but sadly almost all of the algs of PLL and OLL are gone from my memory.

now, since i have learned CFOP long time ago.. i want to learn Roux Method to solve.. atleast for fun because my smoking habit is more like turned into an addiction so i need to divert my attention and rehab myself.

CFOP is fast.. faz is fast.. but i think roux is sexy the reason why i want to learn because, after seeing alexander lau doing roux it was fast, less moves and M slices are great but i dunno where should i start.

i can still CFOP fast, F2L and Cross.. any tips or suggestion perhaps?
thanks..

I recommend Donovan's Roux Tutorial, Waffle's Roux Tutorial, and Alex Lau's Rouxtorial. They all did great individually, but all together gave me lots of different looks at Roux (though I was very slow and coming from beginner's method, so my experience is much different than yours).

Also, best of luck with quitting smoking. It's one of the most important decisions you can make with your life. I lost two grandparents to smoking related illnesses, and it breaks my heart to see young people smoking.

I also recommend Lars Petrus's site for block building techniques:
http://lar5.com/cube/fas1.html
http://lar5.com/cube/fas2.html
http://lar5.com/cube/blox.html
Although they are for the Petrus method, block buildings are essential in both method.

Furthermore, examine others' solutions!
Here is a huge database about solve reconstructions, I listed the Roux solutions to you:
http://www.cubesolv.es/?solver=&competition=&puzzle=3x3&time-specifier=&time-value=&tags=roux

They are extremly helping for block building.

EDIT:
For Step 4a) (edge orientation), here is my list of cases/algorithms:

Have fun!

Hey, I'm back. Anyway, last time I was here I said. I averaged around 25 seconds. It's been a few weeks and I'm around 21-22. I did get one sub-20 average. My first 2 blocks were good, and my corners were decently fast (~2.5 seconds) but as soon as I started edge orientation, my tps just falls down to about 2-4. That's abysmal for me. I'm thinking that it's just the m-slices. I'm just terrible at them right now. On the bright side, I know that it's not my recognition. I know the direct solve for each EO case. I'm in the process of learning cmll. I've got a couple sets memorized.

As for LSE, make sure that you learn proper fingertricks (not just one; for example, I can and use the M2 turn in four different ways(!), depending on the situation), and that you can do the LSE steps in one go, without stop or hesitation. This is hard to master; not something you learn from one day to another.

Keep up with the good job! ;)

M2 in 4 different ways!! I think you only need 1 to 2 ways for each thing. The only ones i have two for are M (right middle or ring), M' (right middle or ring), and U (left index flick or push).

Make sure you are doing double flicks for M2 and U2. In general, one hand does Mid slices and the other U face. Start by practicing M heavy algorithms like h and z perm to master the "easy" M moves or just do random M and U moves as fast as you can. Sometimes if your cube is too tight or not well lubed, mid slices may be hard so make sure everything is good.

Wow I feel like an idiot for not even thinking about that. Stuff like that is definitely holding me bacm. I've been using Ring finger then middle finger for M2, but only with my left hand. That's all I use and It takes a toll especially for stuff like M2 followed by R2. How do you guys do M? (As opposed to M'). I always have such a hard time with it.

You don't really need that level at variety, especially at early states. For M2 followed by R2 do r2. Do M by pushing the bottom with ring finger or middle finger. It will probably be hard towards the beginning so a blend between that and r' R can be used.

If I learn all the roux CMLL, will they be the best algorithms for 2x2 CLL too?

Only some of them will be the same as the 2x2 cll algs, but they are moderately close in efficiency. Unless you are going to get serious with 2x2, CMLL will be satisfactory.

For example, see H6.
A common algorithm as CMLL is:
F R U R' U' R U R' U' R U R' U' F'
But as a CLL, there is a more simple algorithm for the same case (which is a CLL, but not a CMLL):
F2 R' F2 R2 U2 R' F2

And you can imagine that there are many more cases which is simplier as CLL rather than CMLL.
But using CMLL for CLL is fine for a certain level.
