Most of the time I can't plan the whole first block during the inspeciton. I can plan the 1x2x2 and usually (but not all the time) predict where the last two elements will be - but without orientation, so it is a hell lot work to plan them additionally.
Is there any advice to practice it, or just "sit down, plan the whole block even if it takes minutes, and hope that the inspection time will drop under 15 seconds".

take as much memorization time as you need to plan the first block and execute blindfolded the first block only over and over. Practice a certain first block over and over to get used to the block colors, if you can find the pieces quickly, you have more time to plan the rest of the block. Sometimes adding an extra move while doing the 1x2x2 block will make the last pair very easy to insert and/or memorize (creating the 1x2x2 block without affectting the initial location of the 2 pieces). Other ways to create the first block include matching two 1x1x3s, or creating both edge corner pairs first and then inserting the center and LU edge pair at the end. I think full color neutrality will usually have a six or less move solution for first block; 8-12 moves is pretty standard for 15 second inspection.

I did a 29.67 with roux.
Splits were: 7.98-8.63-4.81-8.26
Which step should use most work? Tips to improve it?

Also can someone explain the optimization part in part 4 on Roux's site.

Assuming you are using 2 look cmll (if you want to start full cmll, learn a whole set at a time), work on your first block (15 seconds of inspection only got you .6 seconds better than your second block?),last six edges, and don't do cube rotations. For the first block try to use your inspection time to at least find and track all the first block pieces while you are solving the first block and try to do it in around 10 moves. For LSE just practice and make sure you are using the best algorithms for a case and for your "LSE style" (I almost always only use my right hand for only mid slices while my left had does U' and U'2 throughout my LSE solve). I'm not sure, but I think optimization is orienting the last six edges with non-fixed centers which sometimes is faster (If you are solving with white or yellow on bottom or top, you don't have to put the white or yellow center on top before orienting, you can put the orange or red center on top).

I am using 2-look. Will probably learn around 25. I need to optimize and plan my first block better. Ok. I'll try that.

How's this F2B split? I currently average 18-19 seconds.

I know I def need to work on second block. Move count, recog, and such.

FB: 4.29, 1.62, 4.15, 2.37, 3.40
FB Avg: 3.17

SB: 7.85, 5.29, 2.40, 3.94, 7.69
SB Avg: 5.44

Are you saying that you spend 10s on L10P? Work on that.

That makes sense. Still I think your F2B are fast compared to L10P.
Maybe work more on full CMLL but algs are the least important...

I got avg 9.58 and avg 18.34OH by roux method on Jul 28's Hefei Open 2013 ,but i don't use table to move middle layer when OH,just rR' or r'R,r2R2 in the air,i think it's more convinient
