I thought you should always keep the same colored blocks (orange and red in my case) on either side for easier and faster recognition of possible block-building solutions? And I don't always keep blue on front, when I'm building the first block, I may start on another side for more comfortable moves to be executed. Then I cube rotate to blue on front and build the second block. Correct me if I am wrong! Thanks:)

That is good for beginners, but doing what I said would give you more options and help you get faster.

Ok sounds good. I guess its kind of like color neutrality for Roux. (but only with the side colors?)

Edit: How come people like Waffo and 5BLD always keep the same color on the front? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Woops looks like you're right! :fp Would you recommend this for a beginner like me or should I first become more familiar with Roux techniques and focus on this later?

holy crap I was mentioned. That's like the first time I've been associated with the Roux method in forever!
But no I don't. I only keep Yellow or White on U or D. On my tutorials, I keep it fixed so it's easier to follow.

If you don't get used to different colors while learning the basics of Roux, you may find it very difficult to do it later.

Waffo: Holy crap the Roux god commented on my thread! Hm I feel special now...maybe I'll magically avg sub 15. Lol just kidding, only one way to get there: PRACTICE! Thanks for your input!
Dominate: Ok, I'll keep that in mind. I guess I should just solve whatever side has the easiest blocks to build regardless of color? Thanks for your advice!

What do you need help with? First block basically has the same concept as the first block with restricted moves. I can do an example for you if you'd like that.

really just fiddling with the cube and looking at example solves is good. That's all I did (but I'm not super awesome).
Here's an example solve:
L B2 L' D2 L' U2 L' F2 R2 B2 L' B U2 R2 B' L2 D' L2 U B2 F

y'
F U2 L U M' U' L'
U2 R2 U r' U' R U R2 U' R' U r' U r M' U r'
U' R U R' U R' F R F' R U2 R'
M' U M' U2 M' U M' U2 M2 U' M2

that was a pretty bad second block and a semi-lucky FB

here, I'll try another.
F2 U2 L2 U2 L2 U R2 D' B2 D2 L2 B R2 D' R D' B' R' U F

z2
B F' u2 R2 U2 r F'
U R U' r' R' U r U' R U2 R U R' U' r U R'
U2 R' U' R U' R' U2 R
U2 M' U' M' U2 M' U M' U' M2 U u2 M' u2 M'

that second on was kinda CFOP-y, so I'm gonna quit showing examples now :p

Like Ickathu said basically you should just play around with the cube and find tricks yourself. Just try to find the shortest movecount. It takes time to get used to blockbuilding.

Example solves

My solution

Thank you all! I've been working on solving with different front face colors to familiarize myself with not always having blue on the front! I just have to remind myself what UL and UR pieces I'm tracking and solving.

Can you give good tips on how can you do the second block on Roux without breaking the first one? And I seem to do these blocks in CFOP-style. Any tips?

Hold the first block with your left hand and don't do anything to it. Use only M, R, r and U moves to solve the second block. Don't rotate the cube unless it is really needed, rotation-less solve is one of the best part in roux. Hope it helps.

Use M, R and r to make the second block by joining a corner-edge pair to a center-edge pair. Then make another pair and insert it to make a 1x2x3. Hope that makes sense.
