Horrible for 3x3, okay for 2x2.
3x3, keep in mind its my first comp
17.xy it was really good for me
25.xy meh, a little worse than usual
32.xy lel messed up Second block
DNF- I was a n00b the timer wasn't on, forgot to check for the green light to go on.
23.xy- average for me kinda

for 2x2 I got
8.7
then I got 4 5 second solves 3 of them beating the previous one.

Didn't get to round to in anything but had lots of fun.

Do you use ortega? Ur so fast at 2x2... I average like 8s with Cmll/ortega mix. I'm afraid that if I learn CLL, I will start mixing up my 2x2 algs with 3x3, and do stupid things like doing a cll alg in roux, killing my solve. 27 average is ok for your first comp, considering your normal average is sub 20 ish. sometimes. i think. How was the comp itself? Does sitting between solves feel like forever? How were the other competitors? How was thecubicle.us stand? This now means that you are more experienced in speedsolving than me, since you've been to a comp...

i'm just using cmll with white or yellow on bottom for 2x2. not a big event for me, plus my wit two v1 is not too good.

I use CLL and almost all the algs are just CMLLs. I use a few algs for cases with D moves because I try to avoid those. I'm gradually learning some new ones though. If you know full CMLL, I see no reason to use Ortega. I average low 3's btw. Edit: and don't be like GuRoux. Be CN on 2x2.

Ok I am CN on 2x2, but I suck at making layers. Whenever there is no bar, I cant even get like sub 8s. If I wanna learn cll, i'll probably have to learn like 20ish algs because my cmll algs are pretty bad for 15 ish cases (im learning new ones) , and I expect about 5 cll cases unique to 2x2 better than anything on 3x3. Do you ever mix up cmll with cll algs?

I never mix up algs. It's basically just a matter of practice. As for layers, Rowe, Lucas, and Jay all have good videos on making efficient Layers. Again, mostly just practice that. I aim for building a layer in around 1 s on average.

Talking about cmll algs, what are your fastest algs for B2, E2, E4, F4, F6, F1, G2, G4? I hate these cases, and cannot sub 3 them, making my solves with these cases terrible.

Ok thanks a lot. I find that starting a new event after a lot of experience with 3x3 is hard because tps kills whatever lookahead you are trying to develop.

B2: R2 F R U2 R U' R' U2 F' R
E2: U2 R' U' R2 U' R' U' R U' R' U'
E4: x R U' R U' R' U L' U' L
F4: F U' L' U R2 U' L U R2 F (perform with rotations etc as you wish)
F6: This one sucks. I use R' U R2 D R' U2 R D' R2 U' R
F1: I also need a better alg for this. R U2 R' U' R U' R2 U2 R U R' U R
G2: L' U2 L U L' U' L U2 R U' L' U
G4: R U2 R' U' R U R' U2 L' U R U'

Hmm, I haven't really encountered this. For 2x2, lookahead is not nearly as important during the solve. But one looking (i.e. looking ahead during inspection) is really important to get world class (I have been working on this and can one look easy layers). It really helps the fluidity of your solves. But for you at this stage just practice planning the layer in inspection (Using <8 moves preferably).

B2: that is helpful. I use left sexy, left sledgehammer, left sune, which would be OK if I could do anything other than U' and U2 with my left hand. I will switch to yours tomorrow.
E2: my slowest alg: R' y perm R. This is great.
E4: used to be R U R' F' R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' F R U' R'. That was terrbile, dont even know where I got it from.
F4: same
F6: terrible? Better than mine. Niklas sexy sledge.
F1: same. It flows alright though.
G2: that seems nice. I hate mine antisune antiniklas
G4: ty. Opposite of g2 sune niklas.

Is there any trick to this letter scheme? It takes forever to go to waffos cmll site to see which letter and number is which case.

I don't know this lettering, so I had to look it up on Gilles Roux's site. I prefer saying the orientation first and then where the swap of pieces is. For example, U R would be the U orientation with an adjacent swap of pieces on the right. For diagonal swaps, something like U D would suffice, and for pure twist U S (solved). All it takes is agreement on the AUF of each orientation.

I agree. My sune, antisune, and L/bowtie recognition is different from most people. For F1, I would call it T/blinkers with matching rows in front and back. I dont really know my cases by swaps or anything. As for your U R case, I know it as U or headlights with a forward slash (matching stickers on FUL and UBL when the headlights are pointed to the back).

pretty stuck, i range anywhere from 9.7-9.9 usually, rarely sup 10 or sub 9.7

I think colour neutrality will help. Try out orange first block. It really isnt hard. Then you just use red, as it is the sb of orange. That gives you more options, and higher chances for lower movecount. I dont know how to sub 9, but im trying to help because I know I will be stuck there eventually. After great lookahead and decent tps, I really cant see what else there is to improve. My look ahead is really good with constant 4 ish tps, but once I get to your level at 6+ tps with good lookahead, I have no idea what to do next. I don't think having like 10+ tps in normal solving is reasonable or necessary for sub 9 or 8 because that seems ridiculous. I think you just have to find out advanced techniques like eo+lr edges at the same time and others that we dont know.

i currently gave up trying to incorporate yellow on bottom... for now. just got a 9.75 average of 50, so that might be a hint of slow improvement. i know you want me to stall, i remember you posted on the goals thread to surpass ryan and then me. and for ryan you might have a chance, but you of all people know penguins don't fly while gurus are rumored to hover.
