A bit of a progress report: just did a 32.87 ao12 (w/ 26.62 single, wow :o), many easy scrambles, but I feel good about myself, that's 2 months well spent

And a question: I'm getting a 4x4 soon, is roux applicable on that too or are there any effective methods based on roux?

Well once you solve the 6 centers and then use a pairing method and fix the edges and then you can make your first block and etc.
btw the most tedious part is recognizing parities mid-solve and the big cube m-slices aren't really fingertrick-able.
I would advice against it, use Yau, Hoya, Kage(K4) etc.

Question from a CFOPer; why wouldn't you want to use COLL for Roux since you could more easily predict EO after CxLL? Any time lost by having longer COLL algs would seem to easily be made up by having an idea of what edges would be flipped after the alg.

lol. you know what edges are going to end up flipped and where they are anyway - you often even influence them to be way easier

GOD my blocks suck (move-count wise. Usually 12-25 moves long). Any tips on how to reduce it? Also attempting at being FULL CN

It's been addressed, but it doesn't take too long to figure out which CMLL algs are also COLL friendly and which aren't, and there's so many CMLL algs that are just way shorter than their COLL counterpart (F R U R' U' F' comes to mind)

Full cn doesn't lower move count very much. With one block colour, you can be sub 9/10 moves pretty easily, and I think it's possible to average 6.something moves with 1 block. I'm only at around 7-9 moves. Try inserting different edges instead of always using the dl edge.

i guess i changed my mind about cn. it might be better than other forms of neutrality. maybe it'll be cool to have a new wave of color neutral roux solvers and see how that pans out. i know it's hard to tell, but is there certain block colors that you are noticeably better at?

Interesting turn of events. Uh, nope. I do notice though when I have yellow on top and orange on front things are ****ed. I think that has to do with my sticker shades, though.

Is practicing roux for oh even worth the time? The LSE stage is incredibly hard and generally slow. Should I just learn zz for oh? That seems to be the best.

That's what I do, though:
a) I'm in the upper 40s for OH, so emulating me isn't the greatest of ideas
b) I used ZZ as my 2H main before switching to Roux
c) Listening to me is rarely a good idea.

To keep that format,
a) any advice from anyone is useful
b) my inspection time for eo line takes forever. Any tips? I know the 5 rules but I have trouble keeping track of wrong edges (I don't have 12 fingers)
c) how are you at 2h?

i average about 20 seconds for OH with my lse time being 4.5 seconds. i think it is definitely possible to get lse under 3.5 seconds.

I'm not saying it's not possible to get pretty good at oh with roux. Obviously it is. I was wondering if using zz for oh would be reasonable because you can only get so fast with roux oh, and the zz 3gen is just perfect for oh. Roux sb and a lot of cmll are also tricky. I'm not even that interested in oh anyway but ok.

b) Just practice EOLine over and over. Do solves where you plan out EOLine in as long as it takes. You'll eventually get used to it.
c) With ZZ, I'm high 20s, with Roux, I'm about 21-22, probably slower since I haven't really practiced in a few weeks (been busy with 4x4 and Megaminx).

If you really want to get serious about OH, go for ZZ. By if it is not one of your big events or you do not want to put in the effort to learn a new method, stick with roux. The best way to improve slow steps is practice. (Btw, I avg about 26ish).

Hey how do you recognize the L6E cases fast? I just cant seem to get my recognition under 5 seconds, and my execution under 4, so thats about 9 seconds for L6E. My worst for L6E is 40 seconds. Any help?

it's like when you first learned f2l. it took you forever to recognize the case. but after you did it for a while, it came to you quicker and quicker. Just make sure you can recognize the cases in LSE and perform the needed algs. practice LSE and you'll recognize faster.
