For OH, I am using the 54mm GuHong Pro Spring version, and the M slice is easy to move, and I feel more comfortable using that for OH than any 55mm cubes out there.

Thank you ! Will try these out as soon as I can, maybe not the GAN Megaminx though since it is a bit more pricey.

My v5 (got it last April) was pretty speedy, but I hated the way it felt to turn (sort of a scratchy and sandy feeling I haven't seen before). I think a thin/water based lube worked well to resolve any issues.

I recommend you get an rs3m 2020 as it is a cheap way to get replacement pieces (they have the same build), although it may affect the cubes performance as the corners arent as rounded.
I have swapped out one piece and it hasn't affected it, but that is only 1 piece.

It all started with a bang.

Well, maybe not a bang, more like... a heart-crushing clatter. The world was crashing down. It felt like it happened in slow motion, and I couldn't do anything other than watch.

No, I'm not talking about the script to an upcoming Marvel movie, that was the day that I saw my dad accidentally knock my RS3M V5 off the table. Assessing the damage, I found out that the corner was chipped and an edge had a dent in it with a noticeable crack line. And that day, I knew it was over.

Or was it?

Realizing that the cube would no longer be competition-legal, I sat there...

@PetrusQuber - The guhong pro + is great ! It has a pretty nice dual adjustment, adjustable corner to core magnets, and the maglev version is only £16 pounds ! I know it is slightly above budget, but it is so worth it as it can also be used for OH pretty well. The spring version is only £14 too !

Edit - It also feels great to turn, and comes pre-lubed.

The rs3m v5's durability is literally the only reason I've never gotten one. Apparently the matte version is more durable, I could try that instead though I don't really like matte plastic.

Edit: I was also considering the YS3 M, it has better durability and might be more worth it.

Tbh, as long as you use a mat and prevent it from dropping alot then it should last a while. I have dropped mine, which like I said is a relatively recent batch, ALOT and it has only got damaged due to the one time i dropped it from like 5ft + and it landed on the corner.
I think it is worth it assuming you actually take care of it.

I have also tried the ys3m, and personally I found it to be a little too heavy, and disliked the more blocky feeling it had (although it is closer to the rs3m 2020, it also has a blocky feeling with a bit of weight imo). The magnets are stronger, which usually I like in a cube but this time I didn't as I felt they didnt really affect the stability of the cube, and arguably it was less stable for some reason (maybe cause of the added weight giving more momentum).

The v5 is far superior, as long as you are willing to care for it with all your love and if you are okay with sacrificing a rs3m 2020 to the moyu gods in order to resolve any issues with it (assuming you have one).

I do think I'm pretty good at taking care of cubes, I rarely drop them (except for the gan skewb fsr) and my first tornado v3 is still intact (with the exception of a few cracked/completely broken magnet capsules and I have no idea why those are broken).

Tbh I don't really mind heavier cubes that much, but if the ys3 is more blocky I will take the rs3 v5. I don't really like the idea of needing to pay an extra 10 bucks to fix a problem a 25 dollar cubes shouldn't have, but then again I take very good care of all my cubes so (I hope) the durability shouldn't be a problem for me.

At a similar price point, the dual adjust RS3M v5 is still a popular multiblind cube for those willing to shell out more than for Meilongs.

For only a little bit more, there are three great, modern options with ballcores: the Dayan Guhong Pro+, the Moretry Tianma Zcube edition, and the SAOCube RS3M v5 matte with ballcore. The Guhong Pro+ is the easiest to find in most cube stores, and it has a big range of adjustment options, including for core magnet strength. I main the Zcube Moretry Tianma, and it's very fast for a spring cube. The SAOCube RS3M v5 is bordering on too slow for me, but it's still great for people who think modern cubes are too fast.

There's also the Qiyi M Pro v2 Pioneer UV in that price range, but I haven't tried it and it received mixed reviews.
