I thought you were talking about the qiyi one. To be honest, I don’t think it is possible to be magnetised because of the hollow pieces and rather thick plastics.Zcube Christmas Tree 1x2x3. Sorry for bad image qualityView attachment 21781View attachment 21780
Oh okay. I know nothing about puzzle magnetization lolI thought you were talking about the qiyi one. To be honest, I don’t think it is possible to be magnetised because of the hollow pieces and rather thick plastics.
Have you magnetized a Fto?Also any other suggestions on what puzzle should I magnetise next?
Yea, I have a LanLan FTO MHave you magnetized a Fto?
I have just magnetised the ShengShou Crazy Magic Tower. The magnets are quite strong, probably stronger than my Bell v1. Pieces lock into places after every turn, and as it has a mechanism similar to a skewb or a pyraminx, stronger magnets definitely help with the turning.I have long been interested in magnetising non-wca puzzles to give myself more enjoyable solving experiences.

My self-magnetised YuXin Multi Skewb M is now sold.SOLD
Hi everyone, I've just decided that I'd like to sell my self-magnetised YuXin Multi Skewb M for $30 USD as I really want to buy a Speed Tuttminx (I may end up making a Speed Tuttminx M). My self-magnetised YuXin Multi Skewb M is fast and very smooth, and it works really well with magnets. Magnets are definitely noticeable, but not too strong to hinder the turning. If you are interested, please DM me or drop a comment on my puzzle selling thread: https://www.speedsolving.com/threads/selling-wca-non-wca-puzzles-for-cheap.88826/.
The Yuxin Multi Skewb is designed by Greg's Puzzle and mass-produced by YuXin. Here is a short review on the non-magnetic version:
I have just decided to sell my Self-magnetised ShengShou 5x5 Jing Pyraminx M for $21US. As the turning is fast and it is a higher order puzzle with multiple layers, magnets help a lot in stability and aligning pieces. The inners have strong magnets while the outers have medium magnets. The magnets do not make it all that heavy compared to the ShengShou 6x6 Jing Pyraminx M. Some magnets with size that are not very common are used as well such as 5*3 and 2*2 due to the internal mechanism. As I have already used up most of the magnets I got from my previous order (like over 3000 magnets), and combining with the magnets that I originally had, I only have around 2000 magnets left. I have just ordered another 1000 magnets to continue with magnetising my puzzles. Considering that I had magnets of 14 different sizes excluding magnet rings for maglev (where I only have 12 types of them at the moment), even after the 1000 magnets arrive, I will only have around 200 of each size of the magnets on average. Also, as I have heard that the QiYi 8x8 M performs a lot better than the DianSheng 8x8 M, I am planning on getting one of them and magnetise it which will use up lots of magnets, and I am also going to magnetise some wca puzzles as well. Hope the magnets will arrive soon!I have long been interested in magnetising non-wca puzzles to give myself more enjoyable solving experiences.

I wanted to make a mf8 Master FTO M as well but I found the pieces too tiny to fit magnets in and the internal mechanism is just so complex. If anyone has any idea on how to magnetise the mf8 Master FTO, please tell me how.Have you magnetized a Fto?
I will be resting from magnetising non-wca puzzles for a month so as to prepare for my very first comp in March (but I would still magnetise some wca puzzles that I'm planning to use in comp). For the puzzles working in progress, I have already figured out the way to magnetise the puzzle and have already magnetised the first few pieces. For the puzzles I'm planning to magnetise, I still don't have the puzzle yet but I'm planning on getting one and attempt to magnetize the puzzle. The comp I am going to is Hong Kong Cube Day 2023, and if you are interested in trying out any of these puzzles and you are going to the same comp as well, feel free to tell me which puzzles you would like me to bring to the comp for you to try out.I have long been interested in magnetising non-wca puzzles to give myself more enjoyable solving experiences.

I just got around to actually magnetizing today. As I mentioned previously, I ordered a 2nd one to test magnetization on. Much to my surprise, when it arrived it had white on the top and the bottom instead of a yellow side. I emailed theCubicle about it and they sent a 3rd one to me for free which arrived today. So far I've just put a magnet in each corner edge pair to start. It looks like it will be tricky to figure out how to magnetize the UD layer turns.
OreKehStrah how's your progress on magnetising the ShengShou Pentahedron?View attachment 21656
I have finally managed to fully magnetise the ShengShou Pentahedron including the top and bottom layers. For the slices, I used 5*2 magnets in the corners, stacking a 5*1 magnet, a 4*1 magnet, a 3*1 magnet and a 2*1 magnet on top. For the edges, I used 5*2 magnets and stacked 3 5*1.5 magnets, a 4*2 magnet, a 3*2 magnet and a 2*2 magnet on top. For the U and D layers, I found that it is possible to magnetise the top and bottom layers by magnetising the centres and edges. I used 5*2 magnets in the centres, stacking a 5*2 magnet and 2 5*1.5 magnets on top. For the edges, I used 5*2 magnets stacking 5 5*2 magnets and a 5*1 magnet on top.
However, after I have assembled it, I found that even though the magnet in the slices are noticeable, they are way too weak compared to the U and D layers. Like in a square-1, it is preferable to have slices stronger than the U and D layers. However, there seems to be no room to add any magnets on top of the magnets installed. Hence, I tried to add magnets to the slices in another way.

I realised that I haven’t removed the white and yellow caps before as I thought it is impossible to do so. However, it is actually possible but with great force, especially the edge caps. Once I looked into the mechanism of the top and bottom layers, I realised that it is actually possible to increase the magnet strength of the slices. I used 3 5*1.5 magnets in the edges and a 3*1.5 magnet in the corners, stacking 2 5*2 magnets on top of the magnet in the corners as shown in the photo above. This made the slices ridiculously strong to a point that the magnets actually hinder the turning. Then, I changed the additional magnets in the corners from 2 5*2 magnets to a 5*2 magnet and a 5*1.5 magnet. This made the turning a lot more reasonable with the slices just slightly stronger than the slices of a mgc square-1. It is now fully magnetised and it has strong slices accompanied by medium-to-strong U and D layers.
This is so complicated that I actually used 10 types of different magnets. Also, I am glad that I managed to magnetise it to a reasonable magnet strength without removing any plastic.
This seems like too much work. I might go with my approach with the 2x2 magnetization method. It would seem much better than what you did.I have just received my qiyi dino cube today and I have already magnetised it. It’s a simple process as there are plenty of spaces in the pieces which makes the magnetisation process much more easier. I used 5*2 magnets in both the corner caps and the edges. However, I found the magnets too weak. Then, I stacked a 4*2 magnet and 2 3*1.5 magnets in the corner caps, and a 4*1.5 and a 3*1.5 magnets in the edges. The magnets are now medium in strength.

I know what you mean but I have tested that and the magnets strength are no where as noticeable. Like if you use 3*2 magnets on the 2x2 layer of a non-wca puzzle (that’s already on a stronger side for a normal 2x2), it really feels nothing as the plastic on a non-wca are often noticeably thicker, at least for magnets. For example, I used 4*2 magnets for the ShengShou Crazy 2x2, and it feels just strong enough, where if 4*2 magnets are used in a regular 2x2, it will feel strong like a rock (even 4*1.5 can already be pretty insane). Also specifically for the qiyi dino cube, there isn’t that much space inside for you to stack magnets if you are doing it with a 2x2 magnetisation method. I wouldn’t recommend doing that unless you’re going to order custom n52 magnets for triple the price, or you are going to drill holes on the puzzle. This seems like too much work. I might go with my approach with the 2x2 magnetization method. It would seem much better than what you did.
Using 2x2 magnetization method is also doubling the work you have to do, as adding another pair of magnets is no where as simple as stacking magnets that the magnets may repell when you are magnetising it, due to the mechanism of the qiyi dino cube. Using 2x2 magnetization method, you will have to glue in 96 magnets but potentially doing nothing to the cube (I’m not joking, I experienced that on many other puzzles even if I was confident in the way I magnetised it), but the way I did was only gluing in 48 magnets, and simply stack magnets. If you do it the same way and you have experience in magnetising the dayan dino skewb, you can get it done in half an hour. This seems like too much work. I might go with my approach with the 2x2 magnetization method. It would seem much better than what you did.
Actually that was the way I originally planned to do, but the magnets really felt nothing as 4*2 would be the largest possible magnet to fit in that way. A more efficient and effective way to magnetise it is to give up the extra pair of magnets which feel nothing and use up the space to stack magnets only to the remaining pair of magnets. If you are experienced enough in magnetising puzzles, you should know that even stacking tiny 2*1 magnets can make a difference. This seems like too much work. I might go with my approach with the 2x2 magnetization method. It would seem much better than what you did.
