Popping problem on my cube. need advice

I'm new to speed cubing so I don't know that much yet. I just got my Dayan Guhong V2 4 days ago. I have used it quite a lot and it has been perfect the past 3 days. The cube had never popped before but earlier today the cube popped for the first time, and now it pops like every other solve no matter how accurate i try to be. One other thing that may be important: Its the same exact piece that pops every time. I haven't modified it at all (i.e. no lube or tensioning). right now it can corner cut a little past 22.5 degrees with no problem, but when i first got it, it corner cut at 45 degrees no problem. All the edge pieces' torpedoes are still there, i checked. Any idea as to whats wrong with it? If nothings wrong, how can I make it pop less?

Completely off topic and of no help to you, but I read the thread title as "Pooping problem on my cube..." initially.

More on on topic: Pics would help diagnose the problem. You may also just closely inspect that piece and compare it to others.

Without seeing a video or pictures of the piece, I can't help much. However, if the piece looks the same I'd be willing to bet the tensions on like two adjacent sides have gotten messed up. That would theoretically effect one edge most, which seems to be your problem.

I think something like this could be the problem. The tensions may have changed some. As for the reduction in corner cutting, I'd say that is probably because it came lubricated and the lubricant wore off. I used to never lubricate my cubes, but then I had a friend lubricate my cube and now I have lubricated them ever since. It really does make a huge difference in the corner-cutting ability of your cube.

Dayan Zhanchi Slow After Lubing

So I got a Dayan Zhanchi, I lubed it using Lubix and I just can't seem to get it to be as fast as when I first got it. I'm so close to trashing the cube and buying a new one.

Is it the cube, or did I put too much lube in the core, or what?

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Pachonk

Hi guys, im new to speecubing and i am about to buy a cube today. i reveiwed many cubes and really like the moyu huanying and the fangshi v2. Im a beginner with a best ofm 33 seconds and a average of 46 seconds. Can anyone help me decide by listing the pros and cons of both cube and how the cube feels when you move it ( i like fast cubes but not extremely smooth ones, ill settle for smooth but i like the cube fast and a little bumpy and controllable)

Could I have put too much in the CORE, like where the spring is?

What kind of lubix did you put in, and also the core is inside the center of the cube, you need to take the peices out, then the spring with washer and youll see and will be able to touch the core easly. If you don't want to take the springs out then just pop out all the peices and youll see the core. Also, you put lubix on the edges and corner pieces too

Moyu Weilong Problem

Hey everyone,

I bought the Weilong from HKnowstore recently and this cube is great. Mine has a problem though. There seem to be rough imperfections on the pieces making slow turning very jumpy and getting the turn going difficult as one can see from the video and pictures below. Are others like this?

I have lubed and tensioned this multiple times with Calvin's Puzzle Medium Viscosity and Maru Lube and tried having it on a variety of tensions, none of which completely remedy the problem. It is made slightly better at best.

Yeah those are supposed to be there.
The "jumpiness" as you call it will occur to some extent on every cube as far as I'm aware of. Try loosening your tensions a bit maybe.
Don't add too much lube. You barely have to lube the Weilong, overlubing it will make it worse.
Oh and lube the core if you haven't already.

Just a quick question, what other cubes do you have? Just for reference, in case it's really bad.

Ah okay!
I will try wiping the lube out and readjusting tensions again.
I have a Guhong v2, Zhanchi and a Panshi. I haven't experienced anything like this on these cubes (they were DIY kits too).

Hi Yuxuibbs, there doesn't seem to be extra plastic but if you look at the two pictures i posted, some of the plastic on the pieces looks (and feels) rough

Gans III grinding?

My new Gans III (v1) grinds really badly when I turn any side. This started after I dissasembled it and reassembled it. Maybe something is assembled wrong?

55mm Zhanchi can barely corner cut

I've tried on many different tensions, and my cube can cut nowhere near as much as I've seen on different videos. My cube also locks up a good deal, and can pretty much not reverse cut at all. It's also rather easy to pop, having been popped by other people turning rather slowly. I don't know what it is, any help?

If you lubricate it, that will help with corner cutting significantly. I used to never lubricate my cubes until I realized how big of a difference it makes. The lubricant does make the cube a bit smoother as well, which means that you can have the cube at a tighter tension and turn it just as smoothly, thus reducing pops. Lubricating the cube also reduces the amount of wear on your cube and stops the build up of plastic dust. So why not just lube the cube when you will have to clean it out more often if you don't? If you already lubricate your cubes, it could be the tensions. If the cube won't stay on the same tensions, you may want to check if the core is stripped or if you have a bad screw. If you can, posting pictures or a video could help us (the forum community) help you diagnose/fix the problem.

Alright, thanks. I'm a relatively new cuber, so I don't have lube, but I'm asking for some for Christmas.

Problem with Tension and Screw

I have no idea why but all of a sudden, for the past couple of weeks, the orange of side of my stickerless Zhanchi loosens itself. I would set it to my preferred tension and the next day, after some cubing, it would become really loose and would be on the brink of just falling apart. This only happens to my orange side so far and it's annoying for me to retension it everyday. I was wondering if you guys could maybe help me.
