Disassemble -clean it all out once again- assemble and do like 100 - 200 solves on dry cube without lube.
Then disassemble it- clean again- assemble and lube.

This may work- It worked for my 55mm and 57mm ZhanChi.

I call ******** on all this dead cube talk. Been using the same cube for 2 years, and its still faster than most of the other rip offs ive been lured into buying lately.

My guess is that the hardware needs to be cleaned or worst case scenario changed. I dont really see how a cube could die, since there is pretty much no pressure at all and all the surfaces tend to be lubricated. Then again my most worn out cube has been solved maybe like 7500~ish times, so I have no real experience on the matter.

Diassemble, clean center pieces, springs, screws and washers thoroughly and reassemble. If it does not work, swap the hardware for new dayan hardware.

okso my 3x3s get worn out really quickly (asin a month or so). every dayan cube I have has done this and idk wye or how2fix

Have you noticed anything weird in the actual pieces?

When my cubes slow down it's usually because I havent taken good care of them. In my case the slowness is caused by a black gunk that forms on the screws + center pieces. I'm fairly sure its just loads of dust and other dirt mixed with lube. Diassembling + cleaning carefully and a new layer of lube brings everything back to new. I also keep my cubes in bags when I want to take some to go.

If all the pieces look and are as new they should feel as new. There is no invisible particle that slows old cubes down.

no, if i disassemble and clean everything then tension/relube/assemble, it still sucks

I'd say wash every single piece with soap and water and break the cube in without any lube. If that doesn't work, you have a defected cube.
To be honest, the Lubix cubes really arean't worth it, solving your cube 1000 times is really the equivalent as those mods.

What does dead mean anyway, but I think cubes can get worse after too much breaking in. My Shengshou 4x4 feels like that, not like it is bad, but very loose even at tight tensions. If that makes any sense. But it takes at least a year to get cubes to this point.

It means the cube slows down a lot, it's gummy, doesn't cut corners that great and pop more often.
I have two dead fangcun's...

GuHong V2 Issues

So I ordered a stickerless pre-assembled GuHong V2, broke it in a bit, lubed it up, and it is awesome. I also bought a DIY GuHong V2 and no matter what I do, I can't match the stickerless at all. I have lubed the core, and the pieces, and lately I feel like it is overlubed. I did the 48-point edge mod on it, too. Should I go ahead and wash it down, then start up from there? Thanks!

I too have a sticklerless Guhong V2 and I've found that lube needs quite a bit of breaking in to feel great. You should not add more than 1 or 2 drops of diff oil in on the pieces no matter what. I dont know what you mean with "i cant match the stickerless at all". It's very common for people to like the stickerless vs a DIY. Crazybadcuber even tested the difference by dyeing a stickerless zhanchi black so it'd be competition legal, but after dyeing the cube felt just like any other zhanchi.

I think stickerless cubes feel better because of how the dayan plastic feels on your fingers when you dont have stickers applied.

You can tune your lubing down easily by taking 1 piece out and completely wiping it clean with a piece of paper. Pluck it in and scramble. If there's still too much, repeat until you find the perfect amount. Also the Guhong has a lot of surface points in contact which makes it feel so smooth when lubricated. The amount of lube has to be just right to fit your liking.

I would also like to add that I tested my stickerless pieces on my DIY Core and found that it felt even better, which leads me to hypothesize that the cubies are a bit over-lubed and that I am using small amounts lol. Thanks, guys.

UPDATE: Cleaned my cube and it is noticeably smoother after washing, so it had to have been over-lubed. I'll be more careful.
