is there any way to get a faster cross time apart from practise?

my cross avg is like...7 secs.
my F2l avg (counting the cross) is 31.1. i'm sure if that is bad of not?

myke...

For the cross, try to get the cross under 8 moves everytime. For F2L, if you are using Fridrich, go slow, look ahead, and minimize the movecount. Slowly build speed.

like pat said scramble the cube and find a way to solve the cross in less than 8 moves and practice it over and over by planning the moves in ur head during preinspection and solving the cross slowly and see how pieces move and then solve it blindfolded until u get the hang of it, and it shouldn't take you more than 3 seconds to execute 8 moves(4sec max if it was really complicated that you couldn't figure it out during pre-inspection)

Well looking at your signature, if you have 53 average with a 31 seconds f2l + cross, i would suggest you work on your last layer.

Learn all the PLL cases if you haven't already. Maybe learn 1-3 every 2 days? This is so you won't confuse the algorithms. If you have that, practice PLL time attack. Try getting sub 1:30. This way, your PLL will be around 4 seconds average.

For OLL, learn all the edges already flipped cases. Thus you can finish OLL once you orient the edges. I wouldn't say you should learn all the cases just yet, but if you like memorizing, go for it.

My F2L is about 40 seconds and I'm solving it at around 55 seconds at the moment....

F2L can always be improved upon by quick thinking and lack of hesitation. Then again, hesitation wont do much if you're about to do F2L in a dodgy way :-P I.e.: Using an algorithm that's longer than another just because you didn't see the other one straight away.

Any tips for OLL? My PLL takes 3-5 seconds...

I'm not sure...

thats another thing i have a problem with!
somtimes i dont recognise the permutation algorithm i need to do so for example i do a U perm to turn it into a T perm :-S

I've problems with that too, I'm just working on increasing the speed of the algorithms I'm comfortable with rather than trying to be jack of all trades and know every possible algorithm :-P

Just practice, go slow, forget about the times for a while. Look for shortcuts / finger tricks.
