[Unofficial] Haiyan Zhuang 3x3 BLD 30.47

Eric, I simply try to state what I see. I'm generally a relatively apologetic person, I try to be more humble than most, and I am a man of faith. However, if there is one thing I do not excel at, it would be politely holding back my opinion when somebody is so incredibly off the mark of truth. Your post was quite filled with BS. However, it did contain snippets of truth. That was comforting. Until you took what little truth you salvaged and twisted its actual meaning. I in no way meant to insult, but if it did, I now apologize. I suggest you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater however.

Also, as cordial as you have been, you aren't exactly the best debater. In proper debate theory, any arguments that have been dropped from one speech to the next flow to the arguer who proposed the point. You have dropped many arguments from many different people. And it's obviously not a lack of time on your hands, seeing as you have taken the time to select which arguments to rebut. I suggest you read back through the posts before this, and properly refute their arguments before continuing. Regardless of your actual character, it harms the appearance of your character's quality when you simply cherry pick your responses.

Have a good night (9:45 EST USA), Jonathan G.

Oh, I did that - it cleary says "in my opinion" where it is my opinion. Get your things straight.

When searching your post for the word "opinion" I find 3 results. I will quote:

"So some things may sound a little harsh and not represent my own opinion in detail..."
"As far as I know, nowhere is stated that only followers of the WCA are allowed or people who shares the opinion of the WCA... "
"Please stop to say things like "our point of view"... you are definitely not talking for me and my opinion."

So basically, at no point did you ever state your own opinion. Is this what you are now trying to say? Because you have certainly made it sound like you were mixing in your opinion. But if you now want to take that back and assert that your entire original post was completely random ideas and not reflecting any of your opinions then I will allow you to do that.

Well, bending words doesn't change things so you still called me names... you said "Yea you are an idiot." which makes this not an adjective... even if so, the word would be a different one - however, it is not on me to explain your own language to you.

If I said "John is a runner" or "John is an eater", am I not describing something about John, such as the facts that he runs and eats? So therefore was I not describing the fact about you that you are idiotic? Perhaps I was not clear that this was my intent though. At least we are now clear.

You like quoting without context, do you? I asked this question because someone else in this thread (not me, look it up for yourself who it was a few sites earlier) implied that Haiyan should not be allowed to take part on competitions of "his" assocaition. So no matter what I know or what I don't know - the question itself actually is reasonable.

I admit I never originally read this thread. I have absolutely no interest in Haiyan Zhuang or his illegitimate records. I did not take what you said out of context, in fact I quoted the whole section that was put as an aside. If you intended for it to be a part of something else you should have made that clear. All I'm saying is that you have no idea of the WCA regulations, as made clear from your statement, therefore I don't see how you could possibly have an opinion that is seriously worth considering.

I carefully select my friends - no worries about that. Regarding reading - you still didn't get what I was talking about...

I know what you were talking about. You were suggesting that we accept CCA records as legitimate. I am saying that the CCA has given us absolutely no reason to trust them or to accept their competitions as a legitimate source of cubing records.

EDIT: To clarify: I never read this thread nor will I bother to.

Thing is, I actually missed a lot of stuff this evening. So there is a huge lack of time. Furthermore there are reasons why I don't respond to anything. See, what goes around, comes around - but since I am not going to dumb down (keyword is netiquette), I just use my freedom of choise not to answer to some offensive kids. But the main reason actually is: I have a other things in life that are way more importent (another reason why - even though I read in the forums - I only made it to now 27 posts in a year). So I am not bothering with arguments that are e.g. far fetched, twisting my words, without any context, offensive and so on. Not anybody may or even better, no one has to like that (since you are right regarding "debate theory") or has to bother about what I say. I as for myself just have better uses of my time than answering to really everything and arguing with everyone and yet having to argue in another language - wich is not my mother tongue (and thus maybe of bad grammar or wording). But as you see, I still answer some posts (or parts of them) that don't use a certain language.

they actually do a lot for to make competitions happen (when they could also be held by the WCA, why haven't they before?)

The WCA doesn't hold competitions. People do. Usually locals from the competition city. It's not the WCA's duty to hold competitions everywhere, that's just what the please-hold-one-in-my-backyard noobs think. So the Chinese running their own competitions is absolutely the normal way to go, that's how it's done everywhere else as well. And then they can have WCA delegates there and their competitions can be recognized by the WCA, just like everywhere else.

@Stefan: "Like Gaétan" - even though that one really made me laugh (as our humor is alike)... no, and you understood how it was meant.

But do you understand my point? The point is that there are cases you would call official and there are cases you wouldn't, we have to draw a line somewhere and it's not easy. But we did it, and our line... is the WCA. And a lot of good work was put into it by a lot of people over a long time. You're free to draw your line elsewhere, of course, just don't expect many to follow you because it's simply not going to happen.

Besides that, the only thing that bothered me in your answer was the implication that people saying "official" simply meant WCA.

I didn't imply that. I said it. When people here say "official", they really do mean WCA.

That may have been ok in the past - but now there are two associations that have separated (by results and rankings - no matter why) competitions.

Just because some people decide to make up a separate association, doesn't mean the rest of the world needs to change or care. Like Dene said, he could create the NZCA and get himself a "world record" easily. But nobody would care, and nobody should.

and since this is an international forum that - most probably - CCA People use too

Name one. I can't, can you? I'd love actual CCA people to talk with us here about CCA and cubing in China. I'd like to know more about it and I'd like to see good cooperation.

I don't think Eric understands that the CCA was basically founded out of completely unreasonable frustration at the WCA and it's members. Haiyan made serious threats, and even interrupted a competition because he was "only" getting one round of BLD, while there was only one round originally planned to be held. The CCA was established around this time, and the fact that Haiyan is basically the president/founder doesn't help his case one bit. This is only my opinion, but you seem to have a really thick head, and you need to accept that your opinion is one that will get you nowhere, therefore there's no point in arguing over it. The general consensus of cubers is that the WCA is the "official" government of cubing, and not everything has to be technical: that's just how it is. The CCA is pretty biased towards Chinese cubers, and their competitions and organization doesn't quite have the merit of the WCA('s) because of the reason I stated previously: there are many more followers of the WCA and people who see the WCA as the official cubing government. Have you ever thought that WCA stands for "World Cube Association", and CCA stands for "Chinese Cubing Association"? We might as well have an organization for every country with active cubers, and have 50+ different "world records".

[...]So basically, at no point did you ever state your own opinion.[...]then I will allow you to do that.
I am so sorry that you had all that work for nothing. You are right. I was wrong. I did not say "in my opinion". Just try again but this time search for the word "conclusion". And thank you, you are way to kind. But wait, I actually made it clear where I was not taking sides or talking about my specific opinion... hm, that should have helped you in the first place.
If I said "John is a runner" or "John is an eater" [...] At least we are now clear.
Well, yes. It is clear that you are not familiar with board rules.

Ok, so you are saying that you are not interested in what this thread was about. Neither did you read this thread nor will you bother to do so. So... why do you keep on wrinting - among other things - insulting posts in here? Isn't that something called trolling? What is the cure for that again? Right - ignoring him.

I think the main reason for this problem is ranking.
The ranking of WCA is so simple that who having the faster solve has the better ranking. I think it should depend on points or st like that to judge sb ranking in the world just like other sports such as chess, tennis,...
This should encourage the authority to represent for the competition in their place
I think World record or world champion title will sound more acceptable for that no matter what organization holding it

I know that - I was refering to/repeating what was written earlier in this thread on page 5 I guess about those Competitions held in China.
But do you understand my point?
I understood it exactely as you have descirbed it. I explained my point (in my origianl post) - what I understand as an official result and which is not compareble to the jokingly mentioned event on TV. So my mistake may have been that I did not exactely say something like "a competition, monitored by CCA officials - but, as an excuse, I really thought that would be perfectly clear considering a) the topic of this thread and b) the food for thoughts respectively my argumentation. If not, it is now.
Just because some people decide to make up a separate association, doesn't mean the rest of the world needs to change or care.
Yes, but the rest of the world - or at least people who life in democratic countries - should be open for other ideas and in this case, in my opinion, it is pretty clear that he did not cheat nor get a scramble he already new or such (which I too understand as cheating) meaning he did a world record (as we agreed before, call it an CCA WR - I don't mind.).

I don't know who is part of the CCA and member in this forum, but that "andyzhangdayu" from page 5 and 6 of this thread seemd to have more informations... so maybe he is one (but maybe he is scared to have a outing). But Stefan, why dont you just get in contact with the CCA if you really are interested? I sure would know ways to do so and I am sure you that you would know some possibilities too,... or not?

Yes but do you know how many attempts he is allowing himself to have? He may as well literally be doing what I described as the NZCA. As far as we are aware he could give himself 10 rounds of bld in competition every single weekend. I hardly call that a fair comparison. The chances of a lucky solve go through the roof and the legitimacy of every competition goes down and down.

Also, yea mainly I'm just having fun playing around with you because you aren't playing this game well and it is easy to make you look stupid. And what

Yes, but the rest of the world - or at least people who life in democratic countries - should be open for other ideas
If you mean "open to other ideas" in the sense of willing to consider them, then we are - we have considered them and decided not to change what we think. If you mean it in the sense of automatically accepting others' opinions whether they have merit or not, then I would hope nobody does this.

But Stefan, why dont you just get in contact with the CCA if you really are interested? I sure would know ways to do so and I am sure you that you would know some possibilities too,... or not?
Not so easy when everyone involved communicates primarily in Chinese...

And how

I think Aron will get the WR soon! At least I hope he will... I sent him a replacement zhanchi corner piece so that it could be used officially.

I wonder if it arrived yet?
