Continuing on my vibe-coding journey with Gemini Flash - which I prefer over Claude for this - an AI has now implemented solvers with follow-along step-by-step explanations and comparative move counts for LBL, CFOP, Roux, ZZ, Petrus, Heise, and Kociemba. Move counts range from over 100 for LBL to a max of 20 for Kociemba. Gemini also implemented tutorials for all the above methods - except Kociemba - which it claims is table-driven and not teachable to humans.

End result is that I can now solve a cube and I couldn't when I started. My go-to at this point starts with a White Cross which I try to be smart about, F2L and Yellow Cross together, then an OLL and PLL, which I know can be combined but there's too much pattern recognition needed for my poor brain.

Gemini keeps wanting to work on speed solving. I haven't let it because, although it can scan and solve your cube it cannot monitor your real-life solving and timing an on-screen solve with a 3D cube is silly. I recently learned that there are "smart" cubes with Bluetooth protocols. That would be one way to unlock the world of timing, but I wonder how many people have cubes like that?

I am interested in ideas as to where to point the AI next. I may have to let it work on timing. If you want to check it out, https://apps.apple.com/us/app/speedcube-ar-3x3-cube-solver/id6760368416

Nice it looks cool I also enjoy vibe coding and am coding an app similar to this with replit which is powered by Claude sonnet and I think it is crazy how good at coding these things are while I am not done with my cube solver app I also made a f2l trainer with it. This is a pretty cool app and while I've found AI is not very good at understanding how to solve a cube without kocimba method it could be good for timing and other things also ui looks pretty nice.
