Fridrich 3x3: OLL cross first?

The Sune OLL idea would be much more beginner friendly, if it would always work with at most 2 Sunes and only U's in between.

But that would reqire additional "Pseudo"-Sunes like F' U2 R' U' R2 B' R' B2 U' S'

My favourite two-look OLL system is when I just randomly apply an OLL alg after finishing f2l because I predicted wrong.

LOL!

i think we're confusing the new kid. . .

if you dont want to apply an alg 500 times to get the cross on the top, there are very easy tricks that many use. Kirjava and Stefan are just arguing for the sake of arguing, so ignore their posts.

to get the top cross after the F2L there are only 4 cases. no edges oriented, 2 edges oriented opposite of eachother (bar), 2 adjacent edges oriented (little L), or the cross is solved (all edges oriented). for the first case, no edges oriented, the goal is to create one of the 2 edges oriented cases. you have to use your alg, FRUR'U'F', or something, to get one of the 2 edges oriented cases. to solve the bar, hold the bar horizontally and apply FRUR'U'F'. this will create a cross on top. the other case, little L, hold the 2 solved edges in the back and the left so the L is backwards and in the upper left hand corner and apply FURU'R'F' to create a cross. from there, there is only the "2nd look" which is one of 7 cases to memorize.
it is possible to not make a cross first and solve the OLL, however, this requires that you learn those specific cases. if you are going to learn to OLL without a cross, you might as well learn all of the OLL cases. doing a 2 look OLL system and not orienting all of the edges first is against the norm. some people orient all of the corners first, and then orient the edges afterwards, and this also is a 2 look system, COLL/EOLL.
example from Kirjava
LL Scramble #2498: R B' R' F R2 B R F' U' F U R U' F' U'
orient corners: U' F R U R' U' R U R' U' F'
finish OLL: r U R' U' M U R U' R'

i reccomend learning both. but for sure start with your cross method first, i think its easier.

Ignore maggot.

SuneOLL is potentially quicker to learn than the existing popular 2look system. Should be faster, too.

SuneOLL is no doubt good, but he already is moving in the direction of a edges then corners method.

Kirjava is only telling you to ignore me because he wants everyone to learn suneOLL. do whatever you want. there are a lot more resources involving the popular 2 look methods. suneOLL is recently had a small spotlight, however, i challenge someone to make a beginner friendly video or something of this nature.

How is that a (Pseudo-)Sune? Doesn't look anything like it.

F' U2 R' U' R2 B' R' B2 U' S' Beauty is hidden within :) it flips 3 corners clockwise without changing permutation, wich is extremly "sunish".
It also flips an edge (UL) wich clockwise fat sunes do not flip, that relates it to Sune-OLL..

But the algorithm was meant as an exsample how to extend/change Sune OLL to an memorisation free 2step System* , it was not meant to be adviced to learn exactly this - it is just a little bit ugly.

memorisation free* = not knowing all the 57 patterns (wich implies you do not know which Sune combos)

2step System*= in general 2 Step means to Looks but with Sune OLL you regulary knows what step 2 will be so it's more similar to an 1 Look then.

A much more advisable exsampe is to integrate the 2 OLLs wich just flip two edges into Sune OLL (M'UMU2M'UM / RUR'UM'URU'r')

Both are also not changing Corner Permutation and flip 3 abitrary Corners by zero degree, pseudo sunes :)
