[Help Thread] Cubing Injuries?

I have hurt myself diving for falling cubes multiple times, but luckily no cubes were ever lost, only a few bruises on my forehead and legs.

Cubing is so dangerous.
:p

its so worth the pain to know that a fellow cube is safe and out of harms way :p

Amen, the only times my cubes fall its usaully my rubiks ice cube and i just let that fall, but if my friends drop it... well you can guess why i made this thread

I broke my right middle finger taking a shot guarding home plate (I'm a catcher) and got cleated in the face in the process. Being right handed, I could not effectively cube for about 3 weeks, and then with only wrist turns. My eyelid got scratched up in the collisions, so my left eye got weaker from constantly struggling to see anything without pain. My recognition got terrible.

Worst cubing injury: slamming my hands on the stackmat next to a tack. It went right into my palm. I actually wouldn't have felt it if the fat end didn't touch my hand.

I know a guy who got tennis elbow from cubing one-handed (some of the positions he put his hand into for fingertricks were painful to watch)

I don't know if it's all that relevant here, but here it goes:

Last weekend I was cubing on CCT and had a good solve going. I was on my LL and at 14.56 or so when an edge popped out... from the back as I was turning the U Layer. But what happened that made this interesting?

It shot out like a marble onto my laptop, smashing into a single key and stopping the timer as it shot off to the side onto my desk. O_o

I've never actually had injuries directly related to cubing, but regular cuts from knives from word prevent me from using 2 hands fast.

Luckily I always OH with my left hand.

And of course the occasional funny bone accidents, but I wouldn´t call them injuries.

Would it make for sense if it was an edges only OLL? Somewhere between M' and U' it just happened.
My tps isn't so great, but I guess I was just happy about a good solve. :D

i think it would, maybe some lockup between there :):) and your solve was a DNF! haha

Cut the tip of my left index finger with the CubeSmith plastic razor blade last week while changing stickers. Messed up my triggers for a few days.

I cubed today for about 6 hours and now I have a very sore left hand index finger. It now won't bend as far as the index finger on the other hand. Though it is good to know that other people get injuries from cubing to and that I'm not just a wuss. Also, I'm proud I hurt myself cubing because it shows great dedication.

About two months back i was going through a period of a lot of cubing and i was getting my average down every few days, and i was just at the cusp of getting my first sub-20 average when my left pointer finger started acting up out of nowhere and i couldn't barely do anything with that hand. I gave it about 2 weeks of rest and it felt like it was getting better again, but then after a little bit of time the injury came back, but much worse than before.

I decided to rest it until it felt better, and I've waited about 6 weeks and though it has gotten better i still can't use incorporate it back into cubing. It's sucked because I've been unable to do quite a few things activities that i love (basketball, piano, rubik's cube!) without my finger hindering it, and it's really starting to frustrate me.

I just want to know if anyone else has gone through a similar experience and have advice on what to do or if anyone has suggestions on how to deal with this.
