Bilingual/language learning cubers?

Did you know that only the Netherlands and Italy I think offer both Latin and ancient Greek in in high school?
Wait actually? I didn't know that (I did both Latin and Greek btw)
It is way better than French!
True but French is more useful lol (although in my experience the lessons were often quite useless, I learnt more French by watching French YT than studying my je suis, tu es, il/elle/on est, etc.)
Iirc dav is in middle school
Well, the Dutch school system is a bit different. Basically, you start with elementary school, which takes 8 years (called group 1, 2, etc.) which people usually finish when they are like 12 years old. Then there is high school, of which the length depends on the level you have chosen. The highest level, VWO (which takes 6 years, called class 1, 2, etc.), offers both Greek and Latin. People who take Greek and/or Latin are said to follow 'gymnasium', and the rest of VWO is called 'atheneum'.

I'm learning German at school and on duolingo, and I actually ended up in the gifted and talented class for it. I'm pretty good at writing and reading but terrible at speaking. I also used to know a bit of Italian and Mandarin but I forgot those now.

I speak my native Portuguese, English and Spanish (Castellano). Now I'm using Duolingo to try learning Dutch (and reconnect with my family origins) and to unrust my Spanish. Also I have a extensive language wish list that includes French, German, Italian, Galego, Catalan, Valencian, toki pona, Esperanto. I also hope to someday learn Linguistics

Here in Romania, we were learning Latin in 8th grade, but now chanced to 7th grade, really weird, because I think they also know is completly useless to learn, and we more learnt about ancient Rome than the language itself

Also, you also didn't want to do Greek? It is way better than French!
Is latin the same as greek? I didnt get a message to singing up to that, but I am doing Havo/Vwo as my school doesnt offer VWO, Atheneum or Gymnasium.

Oh I thought your school did, since you said you didn't want Latin. I think every gymnasium teaches you both Latin and Greek for the first 3 years, untill you make your profielkeuze ( choice to drop certain subjects and sometimes even add some).

And no, they're totally different languages with different alphabets

One of my friends does Latin and Ancient Greek at secondary school (roughly equivalent to high school) and we’re in the UK. Our school does have a very strong classics department though. I did Latin GCSE, but not Ancient Greek because they didn’t offer it to my year (she’s the year below me).
