I'm (technically) a second generation American. Since my brother has an intellectual disability, the doctors told my mother she wasn't allowed to speak Spanish around him. She unfortunately passed away before she could teach me one on one.
I've learned through my own means, school, and my step-mother who is also a fluent speaker (as her second language, however). My current speaking level is about that of an older todler.

I live in a multi-racial/cultural country, so I learnt to speak Chinese, English, Malay since I was very young, and a few dialects of Chinese such as Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew. Later on also a little bit of japanese due to work, and Hylian from Zelda series. Technically 4 but maybe 8 lol? Thinking of learning sign language.

I learnt a bit of Mandarin (I was conversational to an extent but still often struggled to express myself) when I lived in Taiwan but I have mostly forgotten it now. I want to pick it up again but I am keen to learn a few others in the future too! Languages are cool, I just struggle with feeling quite embarrassed through the learning/speaking process. Funnily enough I have found cubing a good way to break the ice when overseas and unable to fluently communicate with people ☺️

I speak german and english.
I school I've learned french but it's a long time ago.

I also understand and speak a little spanish and italian, but only what you learn from language learning apps like duolingo and regular vacation in these countries.

Just today, my streak in duolingo reaches 2000 days. 🤟

I speak Dutch as a native language, I speak English fluently and German and French to a reasonable level of fluency (as in, it wouldn't be very mentally tiring for me to have a conversation in German or French). I have studied Latin and ancient Greek for 6 years now but speaking that isn't really gonna work lol. Had my final exam for ancient Greek today.
