[Help Thread] 2x2 CLL Method Discussion

^ I don't understand the logic behind why people always say this.
How is getting fast at ortega going to improve his CLL times?

It's the same reason most recommend practicing 2 look OLL until you're about sub20 before learning full OLL, it's usually better to practice an easier method until you are very good at it before starting a large alg set. Learning ~35 new algs will slow him down a lot at first, and if he can't even begin to comprehend how to recognize them he should keep practicing. After more practice he may begin to recognize different patterns that different CLLs make, giving him a starting point for learning CLL. This is all just from opinion and my personal experiences, everyone is different.

But Ortega doesn't preserve F2L. You just got lucky.

To me and just about everyone in here it was obvious that he was talking about 2x2 CLL. I don't understand the "You just got lucky." part.

The "You just got lucky" was a joke, bro. xD
CLL recognition (FFBB etc.) was foreign to me. Basically, recognize by paired colours and opposite colours. For instance, with headlights on both right and left:
FF
BB
is different from
FB
FB.
F and B refer to opposite colours. They don't have to be on the F or B sides. "F" and "B" are used just to show their relative oppositeness.

The first case can be solved with (y) (R U2 R' U') (R U R' U') (R U' R') and the second with (y) (F (R U R' U') (R U R' U') (R U R' U') F').

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Ranzha's post will not help the OP.

not saying it's not well thought out or informative, just confusing to a newbie.

why does nobody realize that CLL can also refer to a 3x3 set, part of the CFCE method?

What did you think I meant when I said "But Ortega doesn't preserve F2L"?

To me and just about everyone in here it was obvious that he was talking about 2x2 CLL. I don't understand the "You just got lucky." part.

2x2 or anything hinting at it hadn't been mentioned, so it was not obvious (unless you're one of the people who think CLL is solely for 2x2). And definitely not obvious enough for a snotty "please god don't say you don't know Ortega yet". You got lucky because it turned out afterwards that he apparently did mean 2x2.

In my opinion for cll, it's not many algs to memo (in my opinion) just spam the alg until you memo-ed it and you'll be fine. Memo by substep so you won't get confused or you could do an alg of each set then move on to another alg column if you know what i'm saying...(hope I helped)

2x2 CLL

A few questions.

Why doesn't the wiki have them all like the PLL's and other sets of algorithms are organized?

Is there any good way to learn the subsets? I think I'm going to learn them inorder of slowest to fastest OLL, (Sune last, L first).

Is there a CLL trainer? Like the PLL trainer badmephisto had.(if i remember correctly)

Answers to any and all questions is appreciated.

Like Kirjava said, order doesn't really matter that much. I did T, H, Pi, U, L, Sune, Antisune (well, actually am learning antisune tomorrow ;)) for no particular reason other than that was what I felt like doing.

First you should figure out what you already know, try all OLLs you know (not just the OCLLs,) f then make sure to figure out how to recognize all of those. Then i'd recommend going in this order -

H, Pi, T/U/L, then sunes if you still want to.
