Okay so I'm a noob. I know and accept this. But heres the thing i want to know. Is there a better cube for people with small hands? My hands are pretty darn small. They are definitely a disadvantage when i play guitar, and it seems that it should be for cubing.

I was just thinking that, since there arent specifically guitars for "small handed" people but there are guitars which are more friendly to "small handed" people, something of this might also prevail in the varied models.

BTW I am mostly referring to the 3x3. I understand that there are smaller 4x4's than Dayan and Rubix out there, but it seems like the 3x3 must conform to stricter guidlines.

tl;dr Is there a 3x3 which is more friendly for somebody with small hands to solve?

thanks in advance :)

I have no idea how big your hand is but I consider myself to have relatively small hands. The Mf8 Legend is a nice fit as it is about 6mm smaller than a standard cube in terms of height/width. If you have really really small hands, you might also want to try the micro alpha. I believe theres two versions. I know one version is the 47mm version and there is a slightly bigger version too.

I have some pretty small hands, it sucks. But I just use regular sized 3x3's. I can solve a 7x7 pretty decent. I have an Mf8 legend which is pretty small and a mini type C and they offer no advantages when it comes to speed... I still prefer my Guhong over both of them...

dayan lingyun. even if you have small hands, going for a smaller cube is not the best option, however the lingyun is slightly smaller than normal yet makes a big difference.

Hey, there are definitely a couple which are better from smaller handed cubers, and I will name a few, and where you can get them.

Note: Actually, there ARE really a couple 3x3's that are actually PHYSICALLY smaller in size, specifically for things like this.

1. Mini Diansheng. It is actually a lot smaller, maybe 1/5 the size or something, I'm not sure. However, i'm not sure where to get this one, sorry. Look up Mini Diansheng review on youtube and watch the one by Thrawst. You will see the size in comparison to a normal 3x3 and such.

2. 47 MM Micro Alpha Cube. It is a cube from the Alpha company, which makes very good cubes. It says specifically that it is good for one handed cubers and cubers with small hands. Get it at cubedepotusa.com, Direct Link to product here: http://www.cubedepotusa.com/apps/webstore/products/show/1592278

3. 52 MM Micro Alpha Cube. Also a cube from the Alpha company, and also says specifically for one handers and cubers with small hands. I think it is a little bit bigger than the 47 MM alpha cube, but it is still smaller than a regular 3x3. I mean, it IS called a MICRO cube. Get it at cubedepotusa.com/ Direct Link to product here: http://www.cubedepotusa.com/apps/webstore/products/show/1638981

4. Mini Yong Jun (YJ). This cube is 50 MM, so its kind of in between the 2 micro alpha cubes. It also says its specifically for little kids, people with smaller hands, or for one handed cubing. Get it at icubemart.com, direct link to product here: http://www.icubemart.com/apps/webstore/products/show/1699786

Yeah so there's a few, I hope this helped.

And no you aren't a noob!

I have giant hands and I prefer small cubes(LOL)
Lingyun is a bit smaller than GuHong, the micro cubes are much smaller than a normal sized 3x3 and can still be speed solved.

Go with a micro if you think your hands are that small.
Basically what above posters said.

Also, I just realized my post is basically a summary of all the posts so far LOL!

I was still the first person posting when I was typing this!

Lol it took a while.

I have small hands too. I recomend you to really try with normal cubes.

I used the AV which is a bit smaller than the GuHong and I didn't want to switch. But I forced me to get used to the GuHong and after a while it felt "normal".

sorry about the late reply guys, just had a freakin black out. not fun. But thanks for the info! I think I'm pretty sure I'm gonna try getting that 50MM cube, but also I want to get myself a full sized 3x3.

I was also thinking of maybe beginning learning the 4x4, and then when i return to 3x3 it will feel smaller, relatively.
Thanks everyone though, great help :)
I like it here already!

Also, i was wondering if anybody could give me a link to/some information as to where a good place to find some algs for the final layer of fridrich? I have to confess i use only f2l from fridrich and then the childish dan brown method (ewwww). But i WANT to change :'(

Coke comes to the rescue again :D

badmephisto has really good tutorials for 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL, which is what I HIGHLY suggest (actually no, I enforce almost lol) that you learn next.

These videos explain what 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL are, and also of course teach the algorithms and cases.

Badmephisto's 2 look OLL tutorial : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTYvklyOpVM

Badmephisto's 2 look PLL tutorial : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S61q3FYVFis

The algorithms for each are in each of the video's descriptions, but if you're lazy, or you want something to carry with you or help with memorization or whatever, I'll be super awesome and post some links for algorithm sheets too.

2 look PLL algorithm sheet : http://badmephisto.com/2LookPLL.pdf

Hope I helped you!

P.S., as you can tell by how many posts I have, I am new too! LOL I joined like a week ago :D

Wow, thanks a million! Seriously Samaritan like help going on with you, Coke! Means alot really. Helpful peple like you spur me on to use the information to better myself! And if you are new and helping this much, well then, darn it, i better start helping out some too!

Thanks again, gonna take a looksie at these tomorrow. For now, sleep! It late in Ireland..

Haha you are very welcome.

Thank you, I try to help :)

...but only *hands* small, amirite?

I have small hands as well, but I don't feel it hinders my cubing too much, at least not on the regular 3x3. While some OH moves are easier to perform on the mini type C (50mm), I'm actually faster on my normal cube because it's just smoother. The 45mm mini Diansheng IMO is too small to be anything more than a novelty.

It depends on the size of his hands.

I have a friend who's hands are super duper tiny and the 45 mm is perfect for him. IDK.

P.S. I signed up for Nationals 2011 and it said i was sending payment to you :o

I know you're not taking the money or anything stupid, I just thought that was kinda interesting O.o

i lol'd

i have fairly large hands, but i'd like to say that i 'struggle' with large cubes (higher order). its just becoming comfortable with the turning over time really. even if you have micro hands, a normal 3x3 is a good size for almost everyone. even little kids are able to use normal sized 3x3 with little problem (little korean girl whos name escapes me right now).

:) This video was the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title. I consider this required watching for any of my piano students who play Rachmaninoff. (Okay, I've only ever had two who were good enough to try Rachmaninoff.) I know it's supposedly a stolen comedy bit, but these guys really really perform it well.
