Another thought just occurred to me about this cursed situation:
Clock experienced a major resurgence in the past few years. New hardware, new methods, new regulation in its favor. Most things people disliked about clock were remedied. A few still remained, such as lack of spectator friendliness, but the event was brought back from the brink.
FTO also underwent significant advances recently, including new hardware and new methods, and overall more popularity.
A similar thing happened to both events. So why is one getting added but the other removed? This makes no sense, WCA on something🍃🍃

My only problem aint about not wanting the clock its because i dont even participate in WCA i dont want to receive Emails by putting mine to sign
It only sends you 1 email. You don’t even have to check your inbox to confirm the signature, it only sends you an email to ask if you want to remove the signature (since one could get another’s email and make it look like the email owner signed a petition)

Here's an interesting snapshot from history. In 2013 I started a thread asking what should be the next puzzle added to the WCA after Skewb.

After 18 pages of posts over the following ten months, the number of suggestions for FTO?

Nil.

(*One person bumped the thread after ten years to mention FTO. Oh, and at least six people advocated for 15 puzzle!)

It's fascinating that back then, when Skewb was being added, NOBODY was solving FTO. Bencisco wasn't even proposed until 2018!
