I agree with removing clock, especially after I read the issues with it:

Running Clock at competitions can be challenging, as it is difficult to scramble correctly and requires the use of different procedures or equipment from other speedsolving events. Determining whether a Clock is solved and seeing a competitor progress through a solve are not easily visible at a distance and substantially reduce the spectator appeal of the event, particularly to non-specialist audiences.

And also:

Clock is highly dissimilar from these puzzles and Clock’s existing recognition by the WCA arises from historical factors. Removing Clock strengthens the WCA’s identity as being an organization for three dimensional geometrical twisty puzzles and not other mechanical puzzles.

Remember Magic and MasterMagic? Though it had different issues; it was also an oddity.

And Clock was the second highest on the vote list what should be removed, if any. (The first one was 5x5 BLD, but it does not have the issues listed above).

btw many nr holders have signed the petition
Of course they would; there's obviously a conflict of interest there.

Unless you mean NR holders for non-clock events? As a non-clock-event NR holder, I don't really care whether it's removed or not. :p

I have more serious thoughts about this but I'm not about to compose a 500-word essay on a phone touchscreen.

WCA has been a joke for a while now, it’s terrible but I’m not surprised they made such a dumb move. Clock is a very specialized event, and it must be brutal to hear for those who main the event. The spectator excuse is nonsense, nobody has ever complained about that before. I knew the WCA was stingy about adding events but I didn’t think they’d remove an event (i thought that was what WCA forums were for XD, it’s not like those forums are taken seriously by anyone important in WCA, just look at the Taiwan changes)

They're really not. Clock is not at all difficult to run. It requires no special hardware or equipment thanks to the pin requirement changes. It's not hard to scramble - certainly much easier to scramble accurately than sq1, 5x5, mega, 6x6, and 7x7 - and it's not hard to judge. And it's no less spectator-friendly than something like 2x2 where it's over before you blink.

And 2x2 has had waaaaaaaaaaaay more issues than clock.
Can’t agree more, 2x2 should be removed before clock
