Changes to the WCA event list.

My assumption is that a petition is unlikely to work, as they already ran polls and made their decision based on those results. Nothing wrong with trying though!

I should also add that I do believe this is a net benefit, as I think FTO has much more potential as an event than Clock. It's bittersweet, and I wish that clock wasn't being removed, but I'd rather it go than FTO not be added.

its joever
i was about to type a paragraph of really bad things but im not going to because im a good and bad person. all i have to say is, what the hell were they thinking? clock is super spectator friendly for most people, and its also the most beginner friendly event imo because it has no algs. what is the point, i dont see one.

Ive spent so much time into this event, and when im getting good the wca decides to do this
💔

But hey, make sure to sign this Petition to give clock a final chance

I signed it.

As someone who's spent so long practicing Clock to the point where it's become my main event (alongside 3x3), I don't want to see Clock get removed

Just adding this, they did not listen to the results of the poll; it is the WCA executives that are going against pretty much everyone else.
It's just like the Yiheng sliding incidents, where only a few people in the WCA don't want to remove the results or only want to implement frame by frame for future results. It was not the choice of the vast majority of the WCA but instead only a few people going over everyone else to make it happen. But as we saw with sliding, ignoring literally everyone saying otherwise did not go over well, and the WCA ultimately did the right thing and followed the vast majority and took down Yiheng's sliding results. I believe we might see a similar thing happen here, since they also went against the poll they made for this very reason, as well as the people who would understand this more than anyone else.
So if you want to try to fix this misuse of power, then be sure to sign the petition and voice your concern in the community, but be respectful, as we are still dealing with real people.

EDIT: Additionally, more people voted for the removal of 5BLD than Clock, so take that as you will.

The final sum of all wca staff and normal cubers did vote out as clock to removed.

Let’s go!! I’ve been waiting for FTO to get added. FTO is a really cool event, and lines up well with the other events. And I love that they removed Clock, I‘ve hated that event. Clock never really fit in, and lowkey I think that Clock is just stupid. Out of all of the recent mistakes the WCA has made, they finally realized that they needed to listen to the community.

interesting decision, i wasn't expecting this given how much support i've seen for clock lately

i guess i've heard some of the things mentioned in the statement, especially the thing with incidents, which to me makes it seem at least somewhat reasonable. i also think a lot of people will disagree on what is spectator friendly but i also thought that clock wasnt really spectator friendly

one thing i guess i notably thought about clock was that people became fast really fast. just looking at wca profiles, it looks like a few of the top clockers didnt take more than 2 years to become world class. to me this makes it look like clock doesn't take much effort (since i've been doing bigs only for 2.5 years and am still like 25-30 seconds from the top in 7x7 which i practice the most) then again i'm not a clock solver and have no idea how clock improvement works so i probably have no idea what i'm talking about

also i use 10mm and it feels like theres just no room for creativity not sure if thats the case for 7 simul but again i do not know what i am talking about

thing about wca executives is interesting i might look into that
