bldcuber314's Road to 5BLD NR- Quitting cubing?

I've been learning 3s for the past day or two, I'll give you some tips once I can actually use it in solves lol. Also I'm not learning 3 style edges (yet). I'm going to be using m2/3 style for now, and then I'll learn 3 style edges once I'm ready.
Cool. If I learn 3s, I'll also start with corners. How much progress have you made(so I know how hard it is) and how hard is it to learn? Oh yeah and which tutorial?

I'm using J Perms tutorial (just like for everything lol). So far I understand all the commutators and can solve almost every case on my own. However, when I do need a little help I ask in the bilndsolvers discord server (I can send you an invite if you want). I wouldn't say 3s is too hard to learn, but recalling the comms and not doing them sighted will be something to get used to (along with actually doing them quickly). I'll update you once I can consistently solve a case in under 10 seconds, then when I can do them blindfolded

OK I feel like I got a 52 yesterday but I can't remember for sure so I won't add to the sub 1 count.

I tried timing PLLs, holding the cube as I start the timer. I removed some suspicious results, but overall I think I was stopping the timer after finishing the algs. I only did beginner PLLs yesterday, I'll time other ones on different days. These are all my best times for each alg. Oops, gtg so I'll put them on later.

Beginner PLLs-

T perm(R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F')- 0.66, 14 STM, 21.21 TPS

Y perm(F R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' U' F')- 1.23, 16 STM, 13.00 TPS(regrip at start, non-regrip fingertricks were awkward)

Ua perm(R2 U' S' U2 S U' R2)- 0.58, 7 STM, 12.06 TPS(got rid of a 0.54 that might have been early timer stop)

Ub perm(R2 U R U R' U' R' U' R' U R')- 0.96, 11 STM, 11.82 TPS(I sometimes use the RUS alg(11 STM) that I made by cancelling 2 Uas, I had a 0.93 with it but I got rid of it because it might have been early timer stop- my 2nd best was 1.20)

H perm(M2 U M2 U2 M2 U M2)- 1.10, 7 STM, 6.36 TPS

Z perm(M' U M2 U M2 U M' U2 M2)- 1.41, 9 STM, 6.38 TPS

Other adjacent swaps(will add more once I time)

Jb perm(R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R')- 0.71, 13 STM, 18.30 TPS

Other diagonal swaps(will add more once I time)

Will edit with more

OK finished with all the Beginner PLLs(those are all my best times for each alg) as well as Jb perm. I'll update with the rest.

How do these times(above) look for a sub 15 solver and what should I improve? This will probably be more relevant once I get to the rest of the PLLs, as they have more variety)

I just had an epic fail out of sub 1 mean- 57.99, 53.95, 1:26.41.

Memo was pretty decent on the final solve(22s I think) and I would have easily gotten a sub 1. But then I messed up the first pair of edge execution, didn't realise until halfway and then had to undo everything which I think wasted around 30 seconds. This is pretty annoying, but hopefully I can get one soon and it doesn't take as long as sub 1 single(and with less fails and tears)

On the positive end, I've hit and passed 10 sub 1s, and now have 11! I've completely toppled the sub 1 barrier, and now they're flooding in! (I would have liked this about two months ago, which is when I should have gotten my first sub 1 🤣 .

I've been grinding 3BLD hard recently. Before I would do maybe 10 mins a day, now like an hour(the reason I don't practice it much overall is because my performance goes down significantly even after like 8 solves). This is probably the root of all this improvement.

By the way I stopped recording PLLs because I'm not sure if I might have been stopping the timer early. 21 TPS seems suspicious tbh, and I could have definitely been stopping early.

I did some tests, and found out that I could record one R U R' U' using this timer start/stop in around 0.12(33 TPS), but when I did it for longer each one would take around 0.2 seconds- "only" 20 TPS. So yeah, I'm not sure on the whole so I stopped.

You could use a Smart cube, but If You don't have, then record your PLLs and look how many frames it took

OK, so I might be taking this in a different direction but I'm taking up MBLD. My accuracy is very bad in 3BLD, and before learning 3-style I think I want to train my accuracy using multi.

Currently, I normally do 5 cube attempts and find them pretty easy so I ordered an extra cube to do 6. Then I'll order another couple of cubes to do 8 and so on.

I'm not aiming to become a competitive MBLDer. With accuracy being my weakness in 3BLD, I don't think that's realistic. Instead, I'll be aiming for 10 points.(Not setting a time goal to reduce pressure)

I'll still actively practice 3BLD, and hopefully this helps with that as well!

Some info with where I currently am with multi-

I pretty much do only 5 cube attempts, since I have 5 3x3s.

My 2 recent attempts were 3/5 28 mins and 4/5 24 mins(PB on time)

I find 5 cubes very easy in terms of memo, and have never struggled to recall on 5 cubes.

My reviews- Memo cube 1(and review)
Memo cube 2(and review)
Review 1-2
Memo cube 3(and review)
Memo cube 4(and review)
Review 1-4
Memo cube 5(and review)
Review 1-5
Exec 5-1

I do quite a lot of reviews, as well as memoing and executing very slowly. This is because I have 50 minutes to do 5 cubes, and usually finish in like 25 mins anyway so I can take my time. I expect this to change with larger attempts.

Since 5 cubes feels pretty easy, I ordered an extra cube yesterday and will do 6 cubes when it comes.

56.99 brings me to 20 3BLD sub 1s! My new multi cube arrived so I'll probably do a 6 cube attempt today.

Also my first successful solve with 15 second memo(it was 1:00.96 because of a long pause). My previous best was 16, I'd had some 15-14 memos but they were DNFs. I can now fit memo into inspection and do BLD in a 3x3 round!

Also 14.83 PB 3x3 ao100, and 3 sub 10s in the last 2 days(including 9.16 with 4LLL smh). Yes I need to learn OLL and finish PLL, I just don't have the motivation to learn 50 algs that'll help me improve a split second in an event I don't main.
