Coming soon! On Christmas Day I will be publishing Speedcuber Timer, a smartcube app for Android/iOS that works without an internet connection.

It has all the standard features of a speedcubing timer app:
  • Time your solves for any WCA Event, and tons of unofficial events too (with or without a smartcube)
  • Scramble generation for all NxNxN cubes
  • Averages of 3, 5, 12, 50, 100, 1000
  • Charts of your averages over time.
  • For smartcubes:
    • Automatic CFOP reconstructions (ZZ and Roux are supported, but not yet shown in the UI).
    • TPS over time graphs
    • Statistics per solution phase
The top unique features I don't think exist anywhere else:
  • Solve multiple puzzles in a single solution attempt (e.g. Multi-BLD or Relays)
  • Connect multiple smartcubes at once (e.g. for Multi-BLD or Relays)
  • Completely offline. After a few assets are downloaded on the first boot, the app never needs internet access.
    • Every other smartcube app requires an active internet connection in order to access the full feature set.
Speedcuber Timer already supports multiple brands of smartcubes:
  • Giiker 2x2x2
  • Giiker 3x3x3
  • GoCube Edge
  • GoCube 2x2x2
  • Rubik's Connected
  • HeyKube
  • (Don't see your puzzle? Check again soon. Support for new models is added regularly)

The app will be free to download and use. Here are the links to pre-register to automatically install app the instant it's released:

Apple App Store Pre-Order: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/the-speedcuber-timer/id6468855171
Google Play Pre-Registration: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.speedcuber.timer

The source code is already publicly available on GitHub. There are lots of options for the community to contribute, even if someone has never written code before:
  • Adding translations to new languages.
  • Suggest new unofficial events to support.
  • Design new event/infraction icons.
  • Recommend new features/report bugs.

Since you are using smartcube features, will you ever implement a smart timer (QiYi/GAN) function along with it?

Those are on the list. I own a GAN smart timer but haven't stopped to add support for it in the app yet. I'm putting a higher priority on adding support for the other smartcubes I own (MoYu, several GANs) and a few key features (ZZ/Roux reconstructions in the UI, scramblers for non NxNxN puzzles, etc.)

You can track progress on the smart timers here:

  • Google has approved the app, but is still reviewing the pre-registration so the link might not work immediately.
