Community Feedback: how can the site improve?

The accomplishments tab on @Prostar's profile is broken:

View attachment 15445

Times over a minute are displayed both in minutes and also in seconds, and all of his 3x3 times are ranked at 0. I haven't noticed this anywhere else, and on my profile results over a minute get displayed just in minutes.
Thanks for reporting this. If you refresh the page, are the times being displayed as your screenshot still? It displays fine when I view it:
However, the ranking # is still showing 0 on my end and I will add this to the list, thank for reporting this.

There is no option to attach files on profile pages.
For the character count it says Max character count reached. Limit:400
Where exactly on the profile are you trying to attach a file? And where exactly are you referring to the character count? What field?

Please get rid of the 3 character search limit. It makes searching for my username or terms like 2x2 or PBL impossible. Even worse, it completely excludes searching many Chinese names which are only 3 "characters".
Once you search for something like 2x2 PBL, click on the second tab "Google Search Results" and see if those work for you. You can also use this alternative search:
Making the search really good has been a challenge over the years - please keep providing feedback.

I would also like the ability to delete polls. I made a poll for one video on my yt thread, but now its a few months out of date and it's just stuck at the top of the thread. Ideally, I would like the ability to create new polls as well, but at the very least I would like to be able to hide the poll.
Please report any poll you want hidden or removed and a mod will do it for you, no problem.

also staff should update the featured threads on the front page with some new videos posted in the records subforum
Done. If you think a thread should be featured but isn't, please report it and note it. Thanks.

we should have a section under location and WCA account for you to put you main cube or favorite cube, what do y'all think?
Done, you can now add your 3x3 Main and 3x3 Method to your profile details here:

I was looking at the accomplishment page and found a strange typo. I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean, maybe "Please enter your results here" ?

Fixed now.

Ummm, I’m not sure what’s going on, but there doesn’t seem to be a “New Profile Posts” tab anymore.
Profile Posts have been removed - the forum is a better place to post/discuss things rather than on profile posts.

Also, if anyone didn't notice, the Media section is gone as well...
The media section wasn't being used as much as expected, so we've removed it to simplify.

Today I just noticed there was a bookmark pages option which is super useful and I wish someone had told me about it
Good point - perhaps we should make a make a useful intro guide to these features? What other features do you like?

Makes sense, though I'll miss them.

I think the media section had limits on what could be uploaded anyway (I only tried it once so I'm going off of memory)

That's pretty much the only feature that wasn't obvious to me. Maybe telling people they can use the report button as a general way to get mod attention.

If I can toot my own horn: I definitely think https://www.speedsolving.com/threads/yezhen-han-韩业臻-3x3-official-5-57-avg-asr-wr2.84584/ deserves to be featured :)

Not having profile posts feels kind of strange and I’d kind of rather have them back...
They allow you to be able to comment on user’s progress even if they don’t have a thread for it, they can share pbs, and things that would otherwise be trivial in the main forum, such as making an entire thread about hitting 3k messages or going offline for a bit, can go in there.

So now that the profile posts are gone, where do you post "happy birthday" or short PB posts, or "New PFP!" or just small updates? It was really nice to have them, because it was more of a casual section of the forum, great for short little postings. It would be really disappointing if they were removed permanently.

I definitely agree! Profile posts were a great thing, in my opinion.

He looks like a good guy, his birthday is today, but I can't wish him happy birthday because there are no profile posts. :( So now the birthday feature is kinda useless.

Although I would like the profile posts back, I must admit there has been some inappropriate discussion on there (political debates, calling the forum a "social media platform", completely off-topic discussion, etc.)

Also, is it just me or is the media section not gone?

Um is it possible for you to add 2x2x3 and fisher cube to the weekly comps? or just some more common non-WCA puzzles?
Every year, Mike Hughey makes a thread for everybody to vote to decide which events should be added to the weekly comp, which means you’ll have to wait a few months before anything new gets added.

I wouldn’t call any of those 3 things inappropriate, first of all. People are (or were, at least) free to post whatever they wanted on their profiles. (From what I remember) I don’t think that there was anything in the Forum Rules prohibiting that.

And yes, I noticed that the Media section is still there as well.

True, but I can understand why the mods wouldn't want that in their forum.

I don't see how political debates and calling the forum a social media is "inappropriate. it just isn't.

@WarriorCatCuber is saying that although profile posts are great for congratulating someone or wishing them a happy birthday, it should still be somewhat related to cubing, since this is a cubing forum.

Yeah, that is true, but it's technically the same with the off-topic discussion. It's just much nicer and easier to post. Also, I don't think that a cubing forum should be so rigid only being fully restricted to cubing. I'm sure a bit of off-topic discussion in profile posts here and there won't hurt.

And since the politics discussion got a little of hand, then there sure just be a rule of no rude postings, such as politics, and if someone disobeyed, a ban could be considered.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion, such as political views, so if they want to discuss that on their profile then thats on them.
