I'm not sure if it is silicon - based lube but the metal seems to be fine, it's just the lube turning black and discoloring.

What is the best lube for someone in a really dry environment? Where I live it is like less than 15% humidity almost all the time. I have DNM, Silk, Lubicle 1, and the Max lubes and they all wear out extremely quickly and make my cubes gummy and slow. Thanks in advance!

If your cube is gummy, it's probably the core lube. It tends to be the main culprit.

Give up cubing in the dry months. ;)

So this is probably a dumb question. I'm getting an RS3M 2020, and I ordered it to come lubed and got magnets to double it up as well. Now I'm scared that the lube will come off when I'm stacking the magnets, and its probably irrational, but I wanna know: Will I have to wipe off all the lube when I magnetize it?/Will the lube come off when I'm magnetizing it?

This is probably a dumb question, but keep in mind that its my first speedcube and im still learning

Not a dumb question at all! You have to pop out the edge pieces and put the magnets in there. This means that the lube that was on the edge pieces may have to be cleaned out depending on the way that you separate the 2 edge pieces. The lube will not come out of the puzzle when you're magnetizing it unless you clean it. Of course, you will have lubed hands because you will have to touch the lube to break open the edge piece.

Nah, it’s not dumb.
Well you don’t have to wipe off the lube when magnetising, though it may be a bit slippery otherwise. The RS3M 2020 edges are two part I assume, so they come into halves. To magnetise the edges, you’ll need to disassemble those edges. I suggest instead of pulling the edge apart (it gets lube on your fingers), try forcing a fingernail in between the gap, and easing it apart.

I thought the RS was tiled. (I don't know if that's the right word, but I mean it has a one piece edge with the colored part coming off.

Alright thanks.:) I could wear a pair of gloves to protect my fingers I guess, but it an irrational fear of 'Oh I paid two dollars for lube, and now 40% of it get in my fingers

I think the word you are looking for is Capped, like the original GTS. The RS (GAN RS, not MF3RS) is capped, but the RS3 is not

Geez, gan even steals the name of other cubes, yikes.

If you want to see what the magnet looks like, I think J perms video about his 5.31 solve shows the inside of his cube with two magnets in it

@Nmile7300 try silicone lubes as they can last longer and when it is dry they tend to sort of "melt" to give a faster feeling. I brought my cubes on a camping trip to Joshua tree where it was really hot and my cubes with silicone felt great.

I just did this with my Valk 3, and my Aosu. Watch Cyothe king's videos:
(he talks about the thunderclap, but it worked wonders with my Valk 3)

For Aosu:

For my Aosu, I used weight 5 silicone and for the Valk 3 I used weight 4. (Was going to try weight 5, but ran out of lube).

The cube will feel very gummy and sluggish after lubing. It's important to spin each face many times to brake the lube in. It can be done by just solving, but that takes a long time. Watch the end of the thunderclap-video. He shows how he spins each face around. I did 100 rapid turns on each face, which for a 3x3 would equal 2400 quarter turns, that's plenty if brake in! It takes about 5-6 minutes to do for a 3x3. On a 4x4, don't forget to also brake in with double layer turns as well, did 100 double layer turns in three directions and 100 turns on each outer face to cover the whole cube. Takes 10 minutes and yes, the hand gets a little tired, but it's worth it.

Worked for me, but I'm not a very fast cuber (3x3 avg: 27-28 sec PB: 19,8 sec) However, the Valk 3 is quite fast even with lots of weight 4, due to properly braking in the lube.

//Cheers!
I really don't see the difference between weight 5 and weight 6
